BUGGGGGGGGGGGGG[ | ]

Check dis: (watch the left corner of the screen) Tonic bug01 Tonic bug02

I have no idea how this happend. I used one tonic, but didn't morph. I hit the myst tonics again, and I morphed into a head, giving me two forms, in the screen, but only showing one form. Don't know if I got points though. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 20:26, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

That's very easy to accomplish; just spam-click the tonic and you'll trigger it a second time before the first use (and thus the limiter) kicks in. Doubles the speed of getting rid of all those tonics :D It's due to lag (highly unlikely to be possible if you were to run GW offline). --Vipermagi 20:42, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
When I first clicked the tonic, I was already running towards a Xunlai Chest. The second time I clicked was after I opened my Chest. Lagg? Dunno. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 20:47, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
Dude, I just tried again, and it worked. Two tonic's down, and two forms on my display. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 05:53, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
And you get points for it. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 05:57, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, like Viper said, you can do that just by clicking them really fast. I was able to get 3 tonics one time, but I've never been able to replicate that. (Was probably due to huge lag on my end.) I have noticed that "action"-ing an NPC tends to do some weird things, and one of them is that item effects get delayed from activating until you reach the NPC. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 12:30, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

There's a carrot with a condom in your shoe?!

...that one will take some explaining. A F K sig 2 A F K When Needed 14:24, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

A: Why the hell are you bringing that up now?
B: What do you know about Sint Nicholaas (or Sinterklaas). That is a Dutch tradition, on wich the American Santa Claus is based (see the name reference?). On the 5th of november, the old man arrives in the Netherlands, by steam(powered)boat. Atop his white horse Amerigo, and aided by his Zwarte Pieten (Black Pete's, wich resemble people of the negroide race), he brings gifts to children who have been "good" for the past year. If they place their shoe under the fireplace, and sing a song, he might come round and leave a gift.
You can leave a carrot for the horse, or a drawing for the Sint. In my case, I had left a carrot for the horse with my studievereniging (study accociation, or something). Being perverts, the rolled a condom around my carrot.
So, to make a long story short, nothing sexual was implicated, it was just to annoy me. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 14:34, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
A: I only noticed it now.
B: Now that is a story. A F K sig 2 A F K When Needed 19:34, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Might and Magic VI or VII. Wizardry VIII. Wizards and Warriors. (I still enjoy taking those out for a spin now and again.)  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:09, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Finished both MaM games. Don't know about the others. RT had adviced Homeworld already. Not sure if I like it, though. "Barrowed" Crysis from my little bro. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 20:24, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
You carried Crysis in a barrow?
I am currently enjoying Two Worlds 1, myself. Awkward but occasionally hilarious VA, 'quirky' game mechanics, big world, fairly unique sense of balance (read; you cannot take more than three hits, or you can take over 150), crazy damage/health scaling. Ultimately, I'd say it's a bad game, but it's horridly entrancing all the same. If I weren't broke, I might even get the sequel...
Also working on finishing Alpha Protocol, which I am thoroughly enjoying. Unlike TW, I wouldn't call this one bad :P Shooter-RPG with a spy story (read: complex).
Mount&Blade:Warband is also pretty great, if you like riding on a horse and punching people off theirs. I like going solo, but the game is actually about leading a Warband (whoda thunk!) of dozens upon dozens.
Anomaly Warzone Earth is a twist on TDs I expected to see years ago (you lead a squad of units, and kill towers for moneys), and it works wonderfully. Great cash-quality ratio as well, especially for an indy game. For what I've played of it so far, decent enough storyline. --Vipermagi 20:45, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

(edit conflict)

If you liked MM6-7, you should also like the other two. W&W got low marks when first released due to some buggy interface issues, but almost everyone liked the story, environment, and challenges (at least, if you didn't use one of the well-known exploits). The interface issues are completely resolved by the faster machines released in the last 6 years. (IIRC, there's also was an update released to fix them, but I only ever played on v1.0.)
Oh: I forgot to mention "The Witcher." That too had some interface issues (resolved by the same updates that took away the notable exploits). I almost never like games that emphasize step functions and 1000s of recipes (of which only a few are useful), but the story was really interesting, the gameplay was fun and challenging, and it definitely was not a copy of anything else around. It's loosely based on a series of stories, which I since have read. The game is more fun.
I also think it compares to Dragon's Age in several dimensions, but I think The Witcher is superior in all but mebbe the ability to control your allies. In other words, if you liked DA:O, I believe that you would like Witcher more.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:50, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
The Witcher, Two Worlds, are RPG's I expect to like, because, well, they're RPGs.
I finished the MaM games, but the last one certainly got boring very fast.
I read about Alpha Protocol. From the makers of ME right? I might just get into that.
I just hope my laptop can run DA:O, because I own it, but I never played it.
In short, thank you, gentlemen, for your time, and effort. And Viper, STFU! ;-) Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 21:22, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
I actually hated The Witcher. The problems for me are that the combat is clunky and is just straight up annoying during boss fights. The story focuses too much on the details and non main quest related things. The entire point behind the story is that your angry at this guy who killed this other guy. You know, the guy you met 10 minutes ago and can't even remember the name of, because you have amnesia? Yah, that one. Don't worry, you'll forget why your there after the first boss kills you about 10 times before you realize that there is one tactic that works against him. A tactic that was admittedly introduced, just useless in actual gameplay. Another thing is that the game is very juvenile. A perfect example of this is the very first dialogue tree you go through with your female companion. I was just playing around, trying to be a nice guy with amnesia, and suddenly the main character whips his dick out and they get it on. There was no lead up at all. And this happens a lot. In fact, in the second staging area, you do this to two girls. It just comes out of nowhere. That is my main complaint of the game, even though it sounds minor. It just ruins the game for me entirely. Also: There are many, MANY cases of lost forever. I have an interesting relationship with DA:O, part of the time I love it, part of the time I hate it. It's really a tossup.--Łô√ë Gigathrash sig Gîğá†ħŕášħ 23:24, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Torchlight is a classic dungeon crawl RPG done extremely well; it's not new, so it only costs 12€; there's a 2-hour demo on their site, but the demo available via steam actually lets you play up to a certain dungeon level, taking as much time as you like. It ought to run well on your laptop. --◄mendel► 00:28, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

I enjoyed the Witcher's story* and enviroments (I'd like them more if there was less needless backtracking across vast wastes and empty roads, though), but loathed the repetetive and relatively simple combat. Because there was plenty of combat, I sadly dropped the game after a mere 8-9 hours, leaving Geralt in a murky swamp with fishmen, druids and wolves. The first boss also totally kicked my ass with his dumb 7 second stun, and I retried for an hour or so until I got him down w/o getting stunned (the stun actually had a different name, but it just made me stand there like a lemon, so w/e). So anyways, combat. My main gripe was that it tried to add complexity by giving different weapon types and attack styles, but undermined itself almost entirely by only allowing one weapon+style combination on a given creature. Usually it was pretty obvious what you had to use, and otherwise the game probably told you somewhere. Once that is settled, you just had to time your mouse clicks right like a one-button QTE, and you stunlocked your target and his allies would stand agape until you started hitlocking them. Maybe, hopefully, it ends up being more engaging at some point in the game, but that point was too late for me.
*= the surprise sex scenes Giga mentioned didn't quite surprise me because that was spoiled for me. It made them slightly less off-putting :P --84.24.127.220 03:04, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Dude, you can pick up a copy from your local game shop for like twenty euro's (thats what I paid, and that was like a year ago), and ME 1 for less. You might even give the normal toy stores a try, in the Netherlands that would be things like: Bart Smit, Free Record Shop, E-Plaza, Intertoys. They *might* have ME2. Tip: Get every last story line related DLC.
And the comics are being ordered, by the dude who runs the comic store in the town my parents live (hes a magician). I havent found a proper game or comic store in the city I study now. Yeah, Gamemania, but they dont count.
I'm a student too, but I think about every euro I have to spend on non-essentials. I have to divide that between games, comics, booze, going out and other things.. Its hard, but keep track of what money you spend where, and on what. Its a lot of work, but if you always ask reseets (bonnetjes?), and use a Exel sheet, its doable. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 21:32, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Receipts :P Anyway, I just don't have an income, aside from some occasional pocket money, if I don't forget to ask, so depending on whether I remembered, 20 euros can be much :P That being said, I have been on the lookout for the ME games, and so far I've only seen a PS3 ME2 :S --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 21:51, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
They're on Steam as well, but ME1 is 15 friggen euros there. ME2 goes for 20 on Steam, which is reasonable still, but I highly suggest playing the superior ME1 first. --Vipermagi 13:52, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Disagree with the being supperior part. The end, yes. But not the rest. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 14:47, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
I fully agree on the superior part, except for that bloody OVERHEAT BUG! (My first playthrough, I had to fight sovereign at least 4 times at the end just because my weapons kept freezing the moment I let them overheat) Anyway: I prefer to have boxes, something tangible that shows I actually bought it. --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 15:04, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Eerrrr, with whom do you agree, El Naz? And there is a wiki, with a fix for that bug, you know. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 15:05, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Imo, ME1 is superior because it doesn't railroad you into the main plot (once you find Legion, you are forced onto the main plot after two missions or so), it lays a stronger emphasis on the RPG aspect (the ME2 leveling system is a joke), and you have more than two friggen weapons per type. On top of that, ME2 doesn't progress the plot at all.
ME2 is a better shooter, but imo not a better Space Opera RPG, which is what I expected after having played ME1. --Vipermagi 15:24, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Agreed, but there is more to ME2 than being a better shooter. It is more carefully thought about; Biotics, Armor, Shields, Weapons, Storyline, Relations, Enviroment. I find it more pleasant to play. Where ME1 can result in you just completly "emptying" your guns at your opponents, cause the amount of health and shields they have, ME2 is more structured.
I have to admit, the side quests stories in ME1 are better, yet they all fall in to the same pattern. Land on a planet, drive way to much in the rover, enter a base, and kill everyone inside. ME2 is not THAT much different, but there is more variation.
I dissagree on your oppinion about the space opera. I find ME2 to "feel" much bigger. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 18:52, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
I thought my comment was clear enough, as I continued talking about ME1 (which is better). ME 2 caters more to shooter people than to RPG people, and where the biotic in ME 1 had to use its abilities very tactically, the ME2 was just "spam spam spammerdy spam". The sidequests were better in ME2, but only because the mako was terrible, and so was the terrain you had to manoeuvre on some planets. And the levelling was indeed a joke in ME2. You basically had a set level you'd have at the end of it. If you're a completionist anyway... The weapons also were a lot better in ME1, because you had tons of choice, and switchable upgrades. I loved seeing the enemies ragdoll after shooting my sniper rifle gaus cannon with the lvl 7-8 upgrade that increased force by 400% or something (but meant instant overheat on snipers). Which is exactly why I hate that overheat bug. Also: the reason they give for using clips in ME2 is bollocks and can be refuted easily.
About the space opera part, I have to (again) agree with viper. The whole struggle in ME1 gives the epic feel of saving the entire galaxy, while ME2 feels more like a spy novel than a space opera imo.
All in all, both have their flaws, so I hope ME3 combines the 2 into perfection. Which I doubt will actually happen, but boy it'll be damn close, no matter what they do :P Here's me rooting they get back ME1 levelling and weapons.--TalkpageEl_Nazgir 19:30, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
If you had to pump a lot of bullets into every enemy on ME1, it's not the game's fault. Aside from Krogan having the three-second immunity shield (or something similar anyways), most died just fine to me. Protip: use the weapon upgrades. There's both armor- and shield-piercing upgrades, and they are really good. The fact you only need two bullets on ME2 is because it's a cover based shooter with limited ammo, rather than an RPG with a shooter attached. On that note, ammo clips are still a really horrid retcon that was handled terribly. It makes no sense in the story (why switch to an inferior system?), the mechanics fall flat (your weapons don't cool off at all any more), they are said to be universal, but they are in fact per-weapon, and apparently guns from before your time also used heat clips.
Correct on the side missions. The one thing Mass Effect 2 did good RPG-wise, were the Loyalty missions. Most were brilliant. Too bad the main story is retarded :( --Vipermagi 20:37, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Insert random wall of text here. First things first: Viper, I finished ME1 at least 5 times, mebbe more. I know what upgrades are, and I used them.
Why are you complaining about ME2 being a better shooter? Duh, there where no swords involved, even in ME1. That gave it a better playing experience. As before, there was also more variation in the shooting, wich ads to playability too.
Weapons: yeah, I had to spend 15 min after every mission cycling weapons, to make sure my squad always had the best outfit. Yeah, that was really cool. I prefer the ME 2 system, but hope to see a few more weapons. Leveling was indeed a joke in ME2, it was better in ME1, and even that was a joke in RPG land.
Dont care about the overheat system. And Viper, weapons had to be MODIFIED, to use thermal clips. Its in the codex, so it must be true ;-)
Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 08:20, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
So someone went around the entire galaxy, checking every nook and cranny for weapons, updated them all with heatsinks, and then stashed them in locked containers/a derelict reaper... No. It's still bullshit. It's still an inferior system. They should have just admitted they retconned ammo into the game, rather than trying to work around it by calling them heat sinks. They made Reapers look like bumbling fools, but I don't mind even that as much as I mind this ammo crap.
I'm not complaining that ME2 is a better shooter. I am admitting it. The spell biotic casting is leagues better in ME2 (semi-steerable missiles are great), and if you are looking for a cover-based shooter with textwalls rather than an RPG with shooter-gameplay, ME2 is your man. I just don't like it, since it's completely different from ME1, which I loved to death. I liked being able to actually take a bullet (provided you were skilled in Armor; hey look, an RPG-like mechanic) without having to crouch down and wait for the veins to disappear from my pupils (hey BioWare, the pupil is a hole. There are no veins in your pupils!). I liked having to actually improve my skill with a weapon to use it. I liked sifting through the loot for the desired bonuses (quantity of drops was too high, though, which was pretty annoying). ME2 offered pretty much nothing in that regard; you can't take much damage, there is no weapon-skill, there is no loot. That's why I feel ME1 is the superior game. --Vipermagi 11:03, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Mass Effect 3[ | ]

As it is sure I'm going to buy it, I played the demo. I have now finished it twice four times, and there are some things I want to discuss. Mental list: graphics, story, playability, RPG-ness. Multiplayer. Weapon customisation.
Graphics. Hell, I have been spoiled. I have a massive piece of hardware under my desk, and I can play games like Skyrim (with high res pack), BF3 and Witcher 2 on extreme. Sure, it gets hot, but hell, thats why you have two bigass fans installed, right? But for real. People complained about the MW3 engine. Well, this one is even worse. On 1920 bij 1080, lips don't move correctly, and the water in the openings mission is just, just, not of this day and age, and I could go on. Sure, that has it's upsides. If I wanted, I could can play it on my laptop. But I don't want to, because I can have better. (Arnout does not like 1.5 min waiting times.) Sure, 5 year old hardware can run it, but really, is that what you want? I know it has been co-develloped for the consoles (which also has it's effects on the graphics), but some things are just UGLY. There, I said it. Happy now, BioWare?

To just to kick 'em while they are down, there is a HUGE difference in character looks. Shepard and Anderson are just FUGLY. (And the lipsinc is horrible.) I can understand about Shepard, cause it has to be like a million different faces. But, the new guy, James Vega, and *SPOILER ALERT* Ashley Williams have got some shiny bald head/long black hair, and some serious upgrades in the polygone departmend. Not sure about Liara , but she looked alright, the same goes for Garus. Rex had cliping issues all over, most around the eyes, and mouth. General peeps just look the same like they did in ME2. DISSAPOINT! Some odd characters, involved in the scenes mentioned below, are extremly nice too. Haven't seen Joker yet, though. Here's to a new definition of the 3 day beard! Well, Mayor Kaidan looked pretty unshaven. Pretty sure that aint according to military protocol... I just hope we get a serious high res pack along the road...

Story. Viper complained about the story in ME2, but what I have seen so far, is very promising. 1000 things from the previous games, the final part to an epic story arc? It just HAS to be good. I am also very impressed with a couple of scenes in the opening mission (Won't spoil.).

Playabillity. There are now 3 modes. A shooter one, a RPG one, and the normal (like the previous ME games) one. I ran through the RPG and the normal one. FPS and normal feature adjustable combat difficulty. RPG and normal have the character building and the selectable responces. To me, that is a good thing. I need to change the keyboard layout though, as I don't like it one bit. Sprint, find/leave cover and interact are all spacebar! Who invented that? The health system has been changed. Not sure if I like it, (more shooter like), but you CAN take much more damage. Annoying eyes stay, although not as much as in ME2. As for me, I think I'll take the normal mode, and set combat to, like normal, or easy (lazy gamer/lousy shooter specialist). All classes can now take 4 weapons. I have only used the M-3 Predator, the M-96 Mattock, M-9 Tempest, and the M-22 Eviscerator. I have used all types of ammo, and didn't notice serious changes. I ran through the shooter too. It wasn't much different, accept all dialogues are balanced between paragon and renegade, and are cutscenes. I can't imagine anyone would want to play it this way, but I guess this mode wasn't aimed towards my kind of gamer.

RPG-ness. The level and skill system has seriously been changed. You get 2 points per level up, your sidekicks one. The first level of a skill costs 1 point, the second 2, etc. This goes on till the sixth level. From level 3 of a skill, you get to make a choice between two variants. (Generaly one aimed towards health/shields and one towards damage.) You can't take both choices, as far as I know. This allows for more cusomization, but could also lead to serious overpoweredness in the multiplayer. So far, I have not delved into the leveling system, because it isn't set in stone (0-day patch, anyone?) and because it doesn't matter yet, even in the multiplayer.

Multiplayer. As far as I have seen/played the multiplayer, its pretty fun. So far, its just not much more than a PvE modus. Max 4 players in a group versus (so far only) Cerberus (NUKE THAT ATLAS! Sir, yes, Sir. Firing Missile!). 3 degrees of difficulty, a lot of different (so far only 2) maps, and just kill THEM ALL! Well, there are some funny chalanges running rampant. All in all, I found it pretty amusing. Although if they don't upgrade their hardware, I ain't never going to play it. Arnout does not approve of connection errors. (The whole Origin platform had issues on sunday.) Things like omnigel, rockets and spare ammo are accountwide. There is a inginous way of obtaining bonuses for one fight only, but I couldn't care. I was just raging at EA for their huge lack of servers.

The system that is now in place for getting upgrades just isn't working. You have to get money from playing, and performing special objectives, whilst fighting off waves of hostiles. That works just fine. But you have two ways of spending it. Spend 5K on a recruit kit, or 20K on a veteran kit. Why can't I just buy the weapons I want? I thought I was a N7/spectre opperative? I want A MOTHERFUCKING WIDOW, NOW! Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 20:08, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Weapon custimation. I haven't been able to access it in the singleplayer, but in the multiplayer, you aren't allowed to have more than two upgrades (not the same twice).

For now, this is all. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 21:49, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

I hate you. The best I ever got out of a SC was magma shield I sold for 80K. I had to work for my HoM points, you know?! Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 14:03, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
I had to work for it, too, because I did it before SCs had ever been conceived. I farmed smites with a Vengeful Warrior for ectos, and I farmed spiders with a Silent Dervish for obsidian. Hours and hours and hours I had to farm to get my obsidian armor.
.....And then you go on a SC and get half of the ectos you need from a single lucky drop. I hate you too. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 14:26, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Ish, if it makes you feel any better, I had to work for my obby armour too. It took me a whole summer to farm the ecto's, and much longer to get the shards. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 14:33, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Yes, a brother in arms! I can't even share this pain with my wife - she decided to get her armor after I already had mine, and while she didn't do SCs, she still got a good chunk of materials paid for by a lucky drop. (Dungeon-chest exclusive skin, think it was a Bone Dragon Staff that she got ~30e for, can't remember for sure.) So Naz isn't the only one I'm bitter at. :P —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 14:43, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
This is the first ever drop I get that's worth over 8k (that previous drop being ecto at that time). And I used it on my ztitle, I'll still have hours of FoWsc grinding to get my weapons, and after that even more for my obsidian armour. --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 15:59, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Oh you lucky people with your speedclears. My warrior had to Triple/Cyclone farm for an age to get all those shards D: Glad I gave up on getting more Stuff after my second set of Vabbian *brag* --Vipermagi 16:16, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
I ended up getting most of my ecto from SF farming, but yeah, it took quite a while. I think i also took advantage of the Zkeys when trading for ectos, but still a lot of work... --JonTheMon 17:17, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
I'm not that happy with speed clears anyway they don't really give that much money at all... I used to run SoO, and that was 28-40k in half an hour... that's how I could afford my EL mursaat tonic not long after it was introduced. Of course, now that's only worth a fraction of it's price anymore, so I can't exactly sell that one to get back my money (72 ectos, back when they were 4k). --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 19:14, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello! I want to thank you for everything you have done for the Guild Wiki. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Tesla, a wiki manager for Curse. The reason I am posting on your talk page is for some feedback. I was hoping you could tell me if there was something you would like to see on the wiki or if you think there is something we could do to help improve the quality of our service to the community. If you have any ideas at all, please feel free to stop by on my talk page and leave me your thoughts. Thank you! Tesla 03:40, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I'll login, when I can. My only other thought is maybe... recent edited users? I just find it odd at the selections. Ariyen 19:34, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, well, there where names on the list that didn't make any sense to me. I didn't even know em, and I've been around for about 3 years. Then post it on all off the admin/beercrats' pages. And take the most active contributiors. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 19:36, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Ok guys. As to how I picked the people I left the message to. I picked them based on first off - Admins of the wiki. They were the first to receive that message. Then I sent the message to active users/members of the wiki. However, I mainly only sent it to the ones that have done something to help the growth of information on the wiki. So if they had 39 edits in 91 days, but 20 of those were to their private user page, then they would not have received the message. However if someone did like 50 edits in 91 days and a good 60% of those were to help the wiki, then they did get the message left on their talk page. I'm sorry if its hard for you to understand but I am doing what my boss asked of me. So basically, Admins - Active users (based on contribs) is who got that message. If you feel that you should have been asked your feedback on the wiki but did not get a message from me, I apologize. You are welcome to go leave me your feed back on my talk page. Sorry again for any possible misunderstandings. Tesla 00:59, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

I thought Arnout had been in rollback for ages... --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 13:32, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
I thought that about both Arnout and AFK, until a few days ago I noticed AFK revert a spam edit without using RB, and for some reason that made me go check his user groups. For some reason, Arnout doing the same thing last week (and doing it 3 times, no less) didn't catch my notice. But now they're both in, and all is good.
@Arnout: I believe you just discovered the danger of rollback - it reverts not just the last edit, but all consecutive edits performed by the same editor. This is useful if a single vandal is spamming edits on one article, not so useful on your own userpage. :) If you haven't read this yet: GW:ROLL. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 14:53, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Beer[ | ]

Heard there was a new "bud light" out... Though I like the drink, I think I'd stick with the former one. :-) What kind do you drink? Just curious. Ariyen 23:07, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Bud light?!?!?!?! My love, you are forgetting that I'm not from the USA. I could take your question as an insult ;-). I'm from the Netherlands, near both Germany and Belgium. Germany has the most breweries of any country and the Belgians produce the most different kinds of beer. In the Netherlands, you could say that each province has its own brand of beer... Although its all actually owned by like, 3 breweries, and there are like more than a dozen provinces. (Provences could be compared to a state in the USA, although much, much smaller.)
The belgians have abbeys, who produce all kinds of specialty beers, and the germans specialize in pilsner, and weiznerbeers. The dutch just (try and) mess around with both kinds.
With each season, the beers available change. You have witbier in summer, Bokbier (scroll down a bit) in autum, special beers during winter (this tradition had died out a bit, only Brand still really does a special beer) and lentebok (same page as the bokbier) in spring. I usually prefer the Grolsch versions of these beers, but I try them all out, every time.
In the Netherlands, everyone has his own prefered kind of pilsner. I studied in Enschede for a year, so I can't drink Heineken anymore, but I need Grolsch or Hertog Jan. I currently live in a region where they prefer Bavaria, but I don't like that either.
So, to anwser your question, I prefer Grolsch Pilsner. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 08:48, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Why the hell would anyone drink the piss that is heineken? :P
Also, Belgium has all the Trappist beers in the world, with the exception of one that's now in the Netherlands because that piece of land was given to the Dutch after WW2 for some reason... I'm not a beer expert, but I know many of my friends prefer them above others, but there's an enormous difference in taste between all the different beers in Belgium. My personal favourite would be La Chouffe, or a very sour Kriek (none of the sweet stuff. I started drinking kriek with those but I've moved way beyond them since they're essentially lemonade with some alcohol). --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 11:31, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
I live in America, and I can't stand Bud Light, or even standard Bud, or really any American pilsner. I've spoiled myself on much tastier and heavier beers from craft breweries, like Samuel Adams. I'd never say no to a Cream Stout (think Guinness but not quite so dark and much smoother), but my current favorite is their Wee Heavy. Basically a Scotch ale plus a shot of Scotch (no, that's not how they actually make it, but it tastes like it), 10% ABV, and the most delicious beer I've ever tasted. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 15:54, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
I don't care for regular Heineken, but I do like Heineken Light... :-) Ariyen 20:58, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
They even make that? God, its worse than I thought. By the way, light means less alcohol, right? Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 20:59, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
I think it really means less calories, but that generally correlates with less alcohol, so it's the same thing. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 21:15, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Oh those silly americans... you got pils with only 4.5% anyway, and then you even reduce the amount in it? Tssk... Try something decent like Duvel with 8.5% --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 21:22, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Om nom nom nom. Duvel. Or a Afflichem, or a Trappistes Roqueford. Awsome. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 21:25, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
I don't know if those are sold here in Alabama or not. Ariyen 23:22, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
I generally follow Ish's beer knowledge, but I also enjoy my hard liquor. I've not touched cheap beer since my college days. Jink 23:54, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Iirc, some of the more popular belgian beers also ship to the US, but the recipe is a bit different from what they sell here, including less alcohol. You bunch of non-alcoholic wussies :P --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 09:22, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Americans don't know how to drink/brew beer, they don't can't build cars, they eat all the meat in the world, I ran out of general things to say about Americans. Belgians are dumb, and the Dutch are a bunch of cheapasses. Sorry, I just had to throw out some general prejudices ;-)
Some belgian beers are available (Stella Artois is generaly available, but only in pilsner), but usually they taste different, not just less alcohol. So called "wifebeaters" (beers with a high alcoholcontent, usually only in cans) are forbidden in some places, but don't know about the USA, so you might have trouble finding propper Belgian beer.
Last but not least, do you Americans even know what a double or a triple is? HMMMMM, Maredsous double. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 09:56, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Less alcohol? The drinkers here make up in quantity for what they lack in quality! That's why there's 32 packs (or more, haven't looked in a while) of the cheap stuff. *is facetious* Arnout, you forgot fat and lazy as well. XD Jink 13:46, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Because I don't knooooooooooooow. Ask my husband. Jink 13:50, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I know doppels and trippels, and I likes them. On the high-alcohol content, yes, some areas in the US have a limit on the ABV that can be sold - until recently, all beer sold in Georgia had to be under 5%. Luckily that was repealed in 2004, while I was attending Georgia Tech there, so my housemates (a Brit, a Jew, and a Chinaman - yeah, it was a fun house) were able to introduce me to the good stuff. :D —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 14:42, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

When I'm at a restaurant, I'll sometimes have a mudslide or an appletini or something. Back when we used to drink Coke at home (we got rid of carbonated beverages when Kim was born), I'd mix up a Jack & Coke or rum & Coke every once in a while. I've never had a mojito, although I hear they're really good. The only kind of wine I like is white zinfandel, and we just don't get that very often. Sake is great, although it goes sour really quick, and I have trouble remembering to finish off a bottle once I open it.
One unusual liquor I really like is absinthe. It's hard to find "real" absinthe here in Arkansas, and of course it's damn expensive, but it's worth it when we can afford it. I had always loved the taste of black licorice, and then I found its alcoholic cousin. Bliss. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 15:12, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Oh, and to answer the question in the header: I prefer drinking beer because it's simple, it keeps, and it fills me up. 12-ounce bottles are the perfect size for an after-dinner snack. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 15:14, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
El_Nazgir, I like vodka. I'll grant you I didn't like it all the first time I tried it, but it's an acquired taste. I'd drink vodka over the muck that people call 'beer' in Ireland any day of the week. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon A F K When Needed 15:42, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
"I had always loved the taste of black licorice" -> Read this while having a stick of licorice in my mouth. xD--TalkpageEl_Nazgir 18:49, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Beer's an acquired taste too. At first I couldn't stand the sour beers and sticked to the sweeter ones, now I hate the sweet ones and love the sour, and some bitters, and etc. --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 18:49, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
It's funny because the primary workhorse in Absinthe is Wormwood, a controlled substance.--Łô√ë Gigathrash sig Gîğá†ħŕášħ 20:52, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
This conversation started out on beer, turned to tornadoes, and now towards every other booze out there... OMG. Well, I don't drink wine, accept when it has CO2 in it, I prefer my wodka straight out the freezer, and I get sick over pretty much any mix. I certainly don't mix beer and stronger drink, because I will end up face down on the toilet. True story, that. Besides, beer is just a low key drink. If I would order wodka all my friends would go like: "OMG Arnout, you so alcoholic!" Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 10:50, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Moo. I just found the title to be appropriate. --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 23:04, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Why, thank you! It's my second music reference this week on the wiki. On a side note, I will be playing ME3 multiplayer for a good part of the day... Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 23:07, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

You're not gonna like this...[ | ]

This guy makes some great points about Mass effect 2. Prepare to sit there for a while, it's 4 different pages :P --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 09:20, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

I happen not to agree with him. He makes us geeks look bad. He would have been the kind of guy to go whining to Blizzard that the previeuws of D3 "where not dark and gothic enough". Mass Effect 2 was the bomb. (Although it does seem to suffer from what I like to call the law of the trilogy. The first one is the best, the second the worst, and the third somewhere in between.) They are whining about a awesome game, that is just marginally less good then part one. Shut up, and go play something else. Viper would dissagree with me, I guess, but that is his right. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 11:02, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
Well, He does get a bit whiny at some points, and easily exaggerates. Mordin for example. And a most of the first few in the first list are rather subjective. Although the whole AI thing really hit the spot with EDI. Yeah, she's a nice character, but doesn't make sense in-universe. The best points are on the other 3 pages imo. The game itself was still good, but it was a lot more flawed than ME1, and I primarily see the article as something that exposes those (despite being too nitpicking in some things).--TalkpageEl_Nazgir 12:28, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
I 'only' think the background lore for ME2 is utter balls (human reaper? What, were the first reapers beaten by fucking octopedes?), and that the Token Black Guy and Miranda are poor characters. I only know TBG is named Jacob because I discussed him three days ago; he is entirely forgettable. While on his loyalty mission, I forgot it was his loyalty mission. Don't even recall what Miranda's loyalty mission was in the first place. Samara was... a little odd, I suppose, but at least not forgettable.
The rest of the crew (including non-squad characters) and their loyalty missions were very good, and the gunplay itself wasn't bad. Too much cover for my tastes, but it didn't stop me from completing the game, unlike DX:HR's. I really like my lore to work for me though, so I won't be playing ME3 on launch. Maybe when it's very cheap; biotic abilities are still fun. Maybe I won't play ME3 at all. We'll see. --Vipermagi 15:56, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
I feel about the same way on ME3 as you do Viper.
As for about Deus ex:HR, I never actually got into combat. Going stealthy was so much more fun than the current lethal combat playthrough I'm in now. Exploring to find alternative routes, analysing patrol routes and take them out one by one. Yeah, they might have used cinematics too much with those, but I actually didn't tire of the "tap guy on the shoulder, knock him out cold" and stuff, never mind how cliché it actually was.--TalkpageEl_Nazgir 16:06, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
It's on my whishlist, I value that kind of game too much to play it illigally. I have played the ME3 demo extensifly, and it would seem that they, atleast attempt to, fix a few things. Ofcourse, I will have say goodbye to any and all study credits, because I will probably sink a 100 hours into ME3 the first week.
It might be 'cause I'm a cheap date, but I didn't care about what you are "whining" over. To give the guy who wrote those pages a bit of credit, I agree with points 8,7, 5 of page 2, 15, 12-8, (6, but that doesn't really count, I went over that), 5 (wich is something even I saw coming), 2 (but who cares?), page four, points 4, 2 (eugh). So yeah, he has some points, but I could counter them all, with one: They didn't make it for you. They made it for a bigger audience, not the spoiled nerd who can't get laid that played ME 1 500 hours, and can recall everything from memory (I am one of those nerds who played it for 500 hours, but that is a minor detail I am willing to overlook) So suck it up, and go play Skyrim or something. ME2 was awesome, as Bioware made it with what they had available (wich wasn't much, compared to some other games, like BF3, MW3, FIFA, Skyrim). This is something that guy doesn't seem to realise.
Now I am done discussing this, as it has taken way more time than I find it worth. But, I will continue to tell you that ME 3 is going to be awsome. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 19:43, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Hmmm, that's weird... My steam library doesn't list you as having portal 2, nor does the "friends who also have portal 2". Have you actually played it already? Because that might be it. --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 19:09, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

The Secret World[ | ]

Are you interested in this game? It goes on sale July 3rd. Ariyen 21:09, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

No, I'm not doing MMORPG's anymore. They cost way too much time, are way to addictive, and probs won't work on my laptop. I'd like to join you, but I won't, for my own sake. It looks cool though. I'm not sure how they want to convert the site's PR into real gameplay, but it sounds good enough. I'd like to play a blond, female templar. Or a raven heared male Illuminati? Hmmm, gotta get back to work, sorry. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 21:14, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
From what I've read, it can be solo as well. I'm not sure how on that. I had gotten a beta key for one weekend and played a little bit as a Templar. I've found it to have been interesting and fun thus far. I won't play it though, if it's subscription. I was just wondering if you had attempted or managed any beta. My only complaint is that while it can play on this laptop, the screen of the game is a bit big and I have to hide my taskbar to hit play, etc. The game wouldn't have played on my other laptop. I just wish they'd consider screen resolutions to some extent. While it was fun, there are a few cons against it that makes me go... "I don't know" to buying it, if it's not subscription. Ariyen 21:32, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
I wouldn't even consider it if it was a subsribtion, buying or F2P are the only way to go... I hadn't even heard about it, untill you came along. And they don't have variable screen resolutions? How old fashoned is that?!? Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 07:11, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Fashionably late, but, yep. First comment under my Curse name, too - Vipermagi was already taken so I had to use something else. Boo.
Man it's been so damn long. There've actually been a number of edits here and there too, familiar names. Kyrasantae for example (only had to double-check whether that was still this year - yep, Jan 5th). I guess the completely empty RC makes those few edits stand out eh. --InsomniacViper (talk) 20:07, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
