Chaos damage is a damage type caused by Mesmer canes and staves, as well as the Elementalist's Ether Staff. Currently, the Assassin skill Seeping Wound is the only skill that deals Chaos damage. No monsters or armor seem to have any particular vulnerability or resistance to this type of damage.
Mesmer weapons are effective because there is no skill or armor that protects from or reduces Chaos damage.

- Chaos damage is not considered elemental damage, and therefore is not affected by skills such as Winter or Ward Against Elements.
- Although it is not affected by any specific armor type, it is affected by non-typed armor, so, for example, a Warrior will still take less damage from it than a Monk would.
