At the beginning of the match, most opposing teams engage in what is commonly referred to as a "priest swap" where they ignore each other until they have killed the opposing priest.
Prior to the July 20th, 2007 update, it was named "Dark Chambers."
Note: There are two gates separating/blocking one of the paths from each starting point towards the center. These gates can be opened and closed by a lever at the starting point side.
