Survivor Title

I may be wrong, but wasn't there an update a while back that allowed players to earn survivor title even after having incurred at least one death simply by earning the required xp for each level?

I've already done the quest Be quiet, very quiet... in EotN, but I can't receive the quest Plan A. Capt. Langmar doesn't give it to me. Why is that?

GW may still be processing the massive change (deleting 999 files is a lot) so perhaps you need to purge the cache and restart GW/computer. If that doesn't work, as a last resort you could reinstall I guess... (T/C) 01:23, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Is there such a thing as a quest log where I can check on all the quests I have completed.

mini pet dragon

Is there any way to get a dragon other then buying the Factions Collector's edition? If there is how and how much does it cost? If not maybe the online store could start selling the mini pets.

You can only get a Kuunavang by getting the Factions CE, or by buying it from other players. It's market price is probably still over 100k. And no, selling Collectors Edition exclusive items in the store is a bad idea, and thankfully it will never happen. — Poki#3 , 20:30, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Owning Outpost

Is there an article about the mechanics of alliances acquiring factions outposts? I couldnt find on. What is the benefit of owning non-capitals? do you save massive amounts of faction, then buy one and hold it until another alliance saves up more? what mechanic allows them to change hands as luxons/kurzicks daily push eachother back in the alliance battles? can a kurzick alliance buy a luxon town, even if they are currently losing in the AB arena?

I mean besides the capitals. So even if a outpost shows up as red on the map, it can still be owned by an alliance that is kurzick aligned? Also, does faction invested in acquiring an outpost degenerate with time? What i mean is, does an outpost get cheaper the longer a single alliance owns it, or does a new owner have to 1-up the previous owning alliance (and therefore each outpost continually gets more expensive as time goes on)?

As noted in the Alliance Faction article, your alliance loses 10% faction each day. If you want to own a town, you just have to be in a "top ten" alliance. The alliance that has the most faction in the game takes the capital. The next alliance in line takes the next free outpost furthest from the border and so on until all outposts are owned by someone. If the border moves, more (or less) outposts become available for that faction. If you want to take a town, you'll have to get a few million faction going and keep it up daily. — Poki#3 , 04:39, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Essentiallly, as i understand it, for a faction (luxon or kurzick) to take an outpost that faction has to own the surrounding outposts (usually this means causing the border to go over that outpost). Now, once an outpost is under the control of a faction, it gets ascribed to one of the alliances of guilds belonging to that faction with the highest amount of alliance faction. The order in which outposts are designated is detailed on the Alliance Faction article. So, when the border moves, if the Harvest temple is under luxon control, it gets assigned to the luxon alliance with the 9th highest amount of alliance faction. If it becomes kurzick owned then it is assigned to the kurzick alliance with the 10th highest amount of alliance faction, because it is normally a luxon outpost, so if the kurzicks have taken it, they already possess their 9 outposts so the kurzick alliance with the 9th highest amount of faction has Durheim Archives. Of course, only 5 outposts for each faction can be taken by the other side, all others are permanantly assigned to alliances belonging to the faction with which they are alligned. E.g. Cavalon is always luxon, no matter where the border is. The benefit of owning an outpost is that it allows members of the owning alliance to access the restricted area of that outpost and gain access to a discoutn merchant who sells things cheaper, as well as some other NPCs depending on the outpost. Owning a capital allows you to gain access to elite missions.The movement of the border is decided by who has won the most alliance battles and by what margin in a 3 hour period.--Cobalt | Talk 18:51, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

New Quests on Desert

When I started playing Guild Wars, about one year ago, I've noticed that many people were getting lost, because there were no prymary quests in the Cristal Desert (Prophecies), but now there is a prymary quest!. I've checked the Updates and there was nothing about it. When did this quest appeared? I'm sure I haven't done it and I don't receive anything when I talk to Hosthly Hero in Amnoon Oasis...

The Sands Of Souls quest was there all along. It was a while since I've done Prophecies, but I think that many people miss it because the Ghostly Hero is quite big, and the quest marker isn't above his head, but "inside" his model. I don't see any Primary quests that would lead you to the 3 mission outposts though, so that may be the main reason. Personally I think it would be good to go exploring once on your own instead of following some green arrow... — Poki#3 , 10:07, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Formatting of Wikipedia links

Gaming Skin

Official Wiki Links

I have noticed a number of anon IPs creating links on talkpages to the official wiki. I was wondering wether we should remove these as

• The official wiki has already done enough damage to the numbers of people visiting this site
• The official wiki removes all links to here that get posted on it
• The official wiki fails

I didn't know what links from the official wiki to here are getting deleted <.<. As far as linking to the official wiki, it depends. As an editor on GWW, I have to say I have never ever seen a link to GuildWiki in an article, and have seen many links to GuildWiki userspace, and never have I seen one be removed. Please provide examples.--Wynthyst 13:32, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

It's userspace. The only rule there is obvious stuff, like NPA, YAV and the likes. Why forbid GWW links? Regarding the original question, I think it is important to distinguish between generic link spam, relevant reference/additiona-info, and personal user links to other wikis. The original question was talking about anons on talkpages, so links to GWW on user pages isn't an issue. I personally haven't actually noticed much posting of links to the GWW on talk pages by anons to tell if they are mostly in the link-spam category or useful/relevant reference category. I think we should just the links purely based on that, independent of whether GWW is being anti-competitive or not. -User:PanSola (talk to the ) 18:05, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

(edit conflict) Hmm, i seem to have started a massive argument about wether GWW removes guild wiki links or not. That is besides the point. My main question was wether or not we should change GWW links (i beleive we changed them to the guildwiki equivalents for an article from guildwars.com news, so i was wondering wether they were OK to be posted on talkpages). PanSola managed to answer that question with 1 post, so imo there was little need for a debate as to wether i was making unjust assumptions about activities on GWW. However, my resentment for the official wiki largely stems from the fact that this fansite existed well before GWW, and then Anet created an official version and this wiki is not mentioned on any list of fansitse etc. I think that creating a wiki was a fair sign of commitment by the fanbase and Anet somewhat damaged that, perhaps due to the fact that we allow more negative comments about Anet, which they cannot police on an un-official site. Is GWW anti-competitive, of course not, it's pro competetive, but competition in this area is, imho, not a good thing--Cobalt | Talk 18:43, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Going away party for Galie and the frog

I was wondering why the going away party for Galie and the frog ended 12 hours sooner than it was supposed to end?

The same reason they started 12 hours early: Anet is used to starting/ending at midnight. It also might have been to make up for the extra events before they were supposed to start. Hello, I need a little help. Seeing as how the coding is different on every wiki, I'm having some issues with trying to setup archives and making that nifty little box in the top corner of the talk page. Also, by clicking on the edit button you can see the source code of the page (and on the bottom are links to any templates used on the page). I'd say look at other userpages, mine's not very good. As for character boxes, I'm too lazy, so I don't even know how to do that. But for skills, use this template, for boxes, use the template Shadow just linked to, and to add a picture, type [[Image:<picture name>]]. SUBST vs. TEMPLATE

Both have their uses. Generally, substing should be used always when the the inserted thing is something that isn't going to be changed or shouldn't be changed, like your signature. Inclusion is used for repetitive information that might change or the information entered to the template should be easily changeable, such as monster and skill infoboxes. -- (gem / talk) 10:58, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Account Management and contacting Anet/NCSoft

I have a friend that has bought NF, but he doesnt play anymore. I dont have NF in my account. He offered me his account, because he won't play. How can I switch that NF to my account? Is it possible? Do I have to contact Anet or NCSoft? I have tried to mail them but noone answered me... What is the right email for answering them?

It is also possible that Anet will send their hired goons round, as your friend giving away his account and you then using it is probably illegal, as the EULA states that players don't own their accounts and the stuff on them, Anet does (hence the ban on gold selling), all a player buys is the right to lease an account from Anet. Judging by the Grim Cesta article, Curses skins are the shield and gorgon skins. The gauntlet and talons are tied to Death Magic. There's one green with the gauntlet skin, and curses requirement though: Villnar's Glove. Guild Wars gold

My Character name is Vince Xaka, i recieved 700k that i did not buy. Now my account is suspended and im going to lose my gold. Is there anything that can be done?

This may be slightly violating GW:AGF but, you "received" 700k that you did not buy. How did you receive it? It just appeared in your account... someone just randomly traded you 700k in LA? And you are worried that because you are suspended, you will loose your gold that you "received". Sounds very um.. whats the word... fishy...

Submit a support ticket, and tell them your situation, ask them to remove the gold from your account, you may need to have a block time, but if you are telling the truth, they probably will unblock you (I heard a story like this, a blogger had, I think it was a fan order some gold for him, and he got suspended) + Talk 06:24, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

AB question

Have noticed a recent trend lately while in AB...players joining guilds just to AB and somehow killing off their characters themselves (over and over again) to give the other side more points. Is there anything that can be done to stop this? It's very frustrating (specially if monking) and takes away from game play. The last AB match hadn't even started yet and the other side had 12 points before we were even out of the gate. Minipets

I saw this: Due to the massive duping, dupers who bought rare minis with duped items were banned. Therefore, many rare minis were deleted from the game permanently; it is unknown how many minipets were deleted from the game this way. what is duping? in minipets article is an image with a minipet and his level :S how?

Duping refers to an exploit that was used a while ago to duplicate items; people were running around with 1750 Armbrace of Truths. The minipet with a level is just a glitch that occurs now and then; minipets actually always have levels, but they're usually hidden. Sometimes it's not is all. 14:08, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Minipets are also treated as allies of the owner when it comes to Horns of the Ox, and can also be knocked down by Earthquake. I'm pretty sure they count as allies with infinite health and infinite regen and are untargettable, but it would be interesting to test how they interact with other things (like Star Burst, Healing Burst, Flame Djinn's Haste, Rejuvenation/Agony, DEFINITELY Leadership/Leader's Comfort, etc) --Gimmethegepgun 19:16, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Rejuvenation seems to be a no since it only heals people who are hurt. Also Preservation was a no-go and it works on people that aren't hurt. Healing Burst WAS affected though, as was Leader's Comfort. Leadership using "Charge!" was NOT affected however --Gimmethegepgun 19:34, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Problems with either hacker or player mod if u have them

I'm having serious problems with either one or a group of players that for amusement or i dont no why keep hassling me even when they're on ignore.The main person has been inappropriate with me Ive told him im a high schoolgirl 15 yrs. old.He has talked with me on ventrilo and keeps finding me.And personal messages me as if a game god its scary.I have a little brother that plays he messes with and friends that play in school.I'm really concerned that he's a pschotic person in my life,He knows what kind of computer i have after being on ventrilo i never told him and he knows things ive said in game like to personal friends i know in real life that he shouldnt know.I know he has several accounts i have a list of atleast 7 people hes been. I've also had some people threaten me ingame after revealing an exploit. 'We know who you are, we know where you live, we're gonna get you, you're in for a world of pain, you don't know who you're messing with', etc. Put every single one of them on ignore and pay no attention to them. Those are empty words, and if your computer is secure they have no way to find out where you live or that kind of stuff. Repairing Data Archive occurs when a file, or a selection of files are corrupt in your gw.dat file, located next to the client exe (standard for Windows: c:/Program Files/Guild Wars ). When i was doing a quest today with a group of people, I noticed that one of them had either one good skill, or many good skills. When we where fighting, he summoned up some kind of djinn, and after that a mursaat came along and helped out. I am wondering where and how i can get that skill(s)?

A special place on the Prophecies map that I can't find!

I was wondering if you guys could help me refind a place on the Prophecies map. I found a place in the jungle, on a cliff, that had a glitch. If you walked out far enough towards the horizon, then adjusted you camera angles around your character you would look like you were standing in midair in the clouds. It was a pretty cool place to take screenshots.... Anyway, I found it by accident and can't find it again. I was wondering if it was still there! Thanks alot if you can help!

Khamu's Trivia

I couldnt find where else to post this. im guessing not too many people care about the trivia.

I came across something interesting doing some research. The ancient Egyptians called themselves Kam or Kam-Au meaning Black people or Black God-people. I can only imagine this being left out due to racial issues and over-sensitive people but it adds more value to the character. Could it be that this was the intention? Or coincidence that he is a black man from an Egyptian like culture.

If you're talking in the Ice Wastes (with the smites in UW), Coldfire Nights patrol in a set path around the map, and some of them have large paths. Joining other parties while out on a quest/mission

The other day I was doing a quest by myself. I grabbed my heros and a few henchmen and started off on my quest/mission (can't remember what it was). About half way though it all of a sudden I started getting messages from someone saying "Hey NOOB you're messing me up. I'm going for masters" .. I ignored it figuring it was some NPC talk and continued what I was doing, when he started messaging me again. He pinged me on the map and yelled at me to join him. I was then surprised to realise that there were a whole bunch of people with me besides my party. The end video scene showed him being knighted and given a title.

So what was that? Was he some sort of ally? How do you do ally quests? How did I end up with this guy and his group? What exactly is masters? How do you go for it? And if he got knighted/titled, did I get one too? Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Khukri (contribs) .

He was a rude loser, and the mission was probably Vizunah Square or Unwaking Waters, but I don't recall either of them ending that way. 14:39, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

and "Masters" refers to going for the Master's Reward for a mission (completing all objectives, usually within a set time), it's explained in the manual for factions/nightfall anyway. The only mission I recall with an ending like that is D'Alessio Seaboard (not exactly knighting but a similar ceremony), but it's in Prophecies so it's got the mission/bonus rewards instead of standard/expert/master. —Dr Ishmael 15:32, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

And in proph there are no two party missions. However it is possible that some people refer to bonus in proph as 'masters'. The fact that "there were a whole bunch of people with me besides my party" makes me think it could possibly be Gates of Kryta where there are 20-odd white mantle NPCs at the end part. My Koss has the "I Will Avenge You!" skill, and my wife's does not. I've been trying to help her acquire it, but I don't know where, or how I got it. Are you sure you didn't have the skill unlocked previously and then manually gave it to Koss? "IWAY!" is a Prophecies skill, meaning Koss wouldn't start out with the skill and it'd only be obtainable if your wife's account has Prophecies linked to it. --Shadowcrest 23:02, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Skill Points - Save them or spend them?

Should you be spending your skill points on buying skills or should you be saving them? I've got 53 skill points (out of a total of 56 = 3 spent) and 6 heros all of different professions. Should I be spending my points on skiling them up (and myself) or not. How many skill points do I need for me personally.

Besides allowing you to buy other skills, what does having skill points do for you?

Umm I always have a abundance of points, only time I have ever run out is on a brand new character at level 2-4, so maybe I'm not the best to answer but unless you are going to go out and spend a bunch of money just to unlock skills for characters then their probaly is no reason. For heroes grab up all the hero skill trainer npcs possible rather then spending your money/points, and if you PVP even a little spend the faction unlocking skills for their use.-- 01:21, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Alari mentioned these, but didn't link them: Hero skill trainers. You can get a lot of useful skills from them by spending Hero skill points instead, then using normal skill points to buy anything else you want. Monument of Fellowship

GuildWiki says there is a separate statue for the Phoenix in the Monument of Fellowship. I captured the Phoenix after beating Shiro again, but it did not provide the ability to add another statue. You need to level it to level 20, and you have to capture it, and not one of your heroes. It's all in the Monument of Fellowship article. — Poki#3 , 18:32, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Energy recovery and Armor

I would like to know what I can add to plain maximum armor to increase my energy recovery? I built my Elemental around energy storage and people get very upset when I tell them I have to recharge. The various attunement skills are of modest help, but in my experience it takes great energy and sometimes exaustion to destroy attacking mobs. Please advise me.

You can add Radiant Insignias and Attunement Runes to your armor, but generally an Energy Management skill is better. Try Glyph of Lesser Energy, or if you have an elite slot, Elemental Attunement. If you use both Fire/Water/Earth/Air (whatever you like) Attunement and Elemental Attunement, your Blue Bar is near infinite. --- -- (s)talkpage 18:43, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Until you run up against Wind Riders or anything else with enchant removal, then your blue bar is pretty much dead. I used to rely on dual attunements, until Anet started giving enchant removal to nearly every other monster in the game in a half-assed attempt to stop bot farmers. No, I don't use attunements anymore: Mind Blast is my new energy management. Combined with low-cost skills like Fireball, Flame Burst, or Liquid Flame, I rarely dip below 50 energy. —Dr Ishmael 18:55, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello Again,

I have runes of attunement, Radiant Insignias, and an Energy Storage of 13. What happens is that even with those and the various attunement spells for water, earth, fire, and air it still takes a long time to recharge after using my spells. I looked at my armor and it says Energy recovery +1. I gather that this is the best one can do using maximum armor. Is there a way to speed up energy recovery?

To speed up energy regeneration you need a necro or a ?/n with Blood Ritual or Blood is Power to cast it on you. You should, however, look into better energy management as Ishmael and Viper suggested. Hope that helped. ∞ ∞IPO∞ ∞ 22:13, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

The skills for my Earth Mage are as follows. aura of restoration, earth attunement, obsidian flame, Energy blast, dragon stomp, earthquake, sandstorm, and resurrect. I have found that running, say, only a fire mage or only an earth mage etc., is unwise as, for example a fire mage does not do so well against destroyers.

Well it's very obvious where your energy problems come from. With all that Exhaustion and 25 energy spells... And the worst res in the game... For an Earth Ele I'd recommend something more like this:

I'm really no specialist with eles, but this should work for general PvE. There are better options then earth though. Fire is the most common, and although you're right that it's severely hindered in battling destroyers (and titans) it's still very good for most area, diving you a good mix of damage and degeneration both to single targets and AoE. In 2nd place, I'd put an Air spikier. Air magic has high single target damage and extra armor penetration. I'd recommend you get some money gathered and made a head piece for each elemental attribute, and slap a superior rune on it. That way you'll be able to adjust to the situation quickly (so long as your skills follow suit) and you'll be able to find the gameplay style you like. — Poki#3 , 08:44, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Holy crap man, 3 exhaustion skills? There's no reason I can think of that you'd ever need more than 1. And I'd even recommend Meteor Shower (which I generally regard as useless) over that Dragon's Stomp/Earthquake combo. Poki's suggestion for an earth build is pretty good (Sandstorm is pretty much the best earth elite), I'd only add Glowstone for e-management - use Ebon Hawk to cause Weakness, then Glowstone on the same foe to gain energy. Since a while ago, I've been using Air Magic myself.

Generally, I avoid using Chain Lightning. It casts slow and causes exhaustion. It's rather nice if you're forced to stand Obstructed though, for whatever reason. Shock Arrow gives great Energy if used with high Air Magic (running 12+1+2 myself), and GoLE is just too good ;) Invoke hits 3 targets, and with Glyph of Swiftness your spell's recharge times are much more managable. For Earth magic, the above build is good enough (or Unsteady Ground if you feel like it ;) ). Whenever I use Fire Magic, I use this;

Loaded with high damaging skills and in most cases (where there is no extreme Enchantment Removal) superior Energy Management. If there's Enchantment stripping present, you're better off with Burning Fart though. It doesn't rely on Enchantments and gives good Energy. Be sure to take Glyph of Lesser Energy when running Mind Blast, though. If you ever dip below ~40 energy, you might get in trouble otherwise ^^' --- -- (s)talkpage 14:44, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Inactive Guild Leader

What happens when a guild leader becomes inactive for a number of weeks? What can the guild officers and members do when this happens?

I'm sorry but I've told you all that I know about your situation, and I'm not sure where you can get a definite answer, other than someone else that happens to read this. New bug allows more than 8 characters in a mission party

Hey folks, there's a new guildwars bug that affects ALL missions:

Start any mission with 2 or more real people in your party

When the mission timer starts, type /leave

add your heroes...

When you start the mission you will have rejoined the party you were in AND your heroes will be there too. (Note there are only 10 seconds in which to add your heroes!)

In a mission where 8 players can play, you can have (including heroes) 32 players per mission.

I have tested this in Prophecies and Factions and it works on any mission there.

Update: This does not work on Vizuneh Square mission, and in Nightfall it seems that the person who starts the mission can't load extra heroes, just the other party members.

Well i will offer this image as proof that it was working, apparently killing the /leave command was the simplest way to fix the problem: PLEASE do not hammer this site.

In this photo you will see 20 characters in Nahpui Quarter, where normally you would have 8 total. I do have other screenshots of other missions as well -- It sure made bonuses easy. I'm sad to see this one go! This mission was completed in 14 minutes (we made a wrong turn just past where this photo was taken)
