GuildWiki:Stub categories project

From GuildWiki
Jump to: navigation, search

This project is geared towards cleaning and maintaining the stub categories.

How to[edit source]

All of the stub categories and the related style and formatting pages are listed below. Each stub category should only include pages of a certain type. For example the skill stub category should only include skill pages. The pages in these categories should be marked as stub because they do not fulfill all of the expectations of the style and formatting guides.

However, many pages are wrongly marked as stubs. The pages either belong to a wrong stub category or don't need the stub tag at all. Therefore users need to go through the pages in the stub categories once in a while to check that all of the pages are correctly categorized and stubbed. The users are also advised to raise the standard of the stub pages if possible to enable removing of the stub tag.

The general stub categories 'stub' and 'has stub section' should be used carefully. Only a stub page which does not fit to any other stub category should be placed to the general 'stub' category. If there are a lot of similar stub pages in the general stub category a user should consider making them a stub category of their own. The 'stub section' tag should be used rarely and almost never with any other stub tag. The stub section tag should not be used when it is clear what parts of the article are lacking, for example when all of the skills of a monster are missing. The best use for the stub section tag are long texts where a small part in the middle is partially missing.

After checking the articles of a stub category fully or even partially please leave a note with a time-stamp on this page so others won't do duplicate work. Although the main idea of this project is to keep the stub categories neatly organized and clean, it is also encouraged to improve the quality of the stub articles.

Last checked: A lot of these are incomplete primarily due to missing "How To Get There", and a few Nightfall ones seem to also be missing Quests (Fahranur, for one). Both are very easy to fix- I think with a little light work, few of these would remain in the category, without even any new data collection. Some of them are very incomplete when it comes to armors crafted with them. It would probably take some time poring through the "what links here" pages for each material and its redirects, and as soon as new armors are added you have to do it again. There might be a creative way to do it involving the "materials" section of the "armor art box" template, but I don't know what it is if there is one. In case the "what salvages into this" section is incomplete, I made a proposal at GuildWiki_talk:Style_and_formatting/Materials to instead use the categories like "Contains cloth". —Aranth Mesmer 13:36, 26 February 2007 (CST)
