Blue check.png

This page is a style and formatting guideline on GuildWiki.

It has general acceptance among editors and is considered a standard to which articles should adhere. However, it is not set in stone and should be treated with common sense and the occasional exception.

This article provides information on starting, expanding on and completing articles about Weapons, Focus Items, and Shields. (To simplify things, any reference to a "weapon" in this entry also refers to foci and shields.)

Syntax and Example[edit source]

 | raresalvage = Steel ingots

Holy Avengers are among the largest swords available.
The blade is bright silver, and is inscribed with many intricate designs.

Location
Holy Avengers are a random drop. They only seem to drop in the
later stages of the game, and are always at max or near-max damage.

This weapon can only be found in the Guild Wars Paladins campaign.

Categorization
The weapon should be listed under one of the following categories: Swords, Axes, Hammers, Bows, Daggers, Staves, Focus items,
Wands, Scythes, Spear. If the weapon fits none of the above categories, it should be included directly in Category:Weapons.
Note that the Ogre-Slaying Knife is a sword for the purpose of using Swordsmanship skills, so it is part of Category:Swords.

Additionally, the weapon should be added to any categories for crafting materials that are listed in the Salvage section.

Notes
Holy Avengers were added as a normal drop as part of the
March 11th Update.

Basic Outline[edit source]

Categorization[edit source]

The weapon should be listed under one of the following categories: Swords, Axes, Hammers, Bows, Daggers, Staves, Focus_Items, Wands, Scythes, Spear. If the weapon fits none of the above categories, it should be included directly in Category:Weapons. (Note that the Ogre-Slaying Knife is a sword for the purpose of using Swordsmanship skills, so it is part of Category:Swords.)

Additionally, the weapon should be added to any categories for crafting materials that are listed in the Salvage section.

Templates[edit source]

The following templates should be used with the following item types.

Template:WeaponInfo: Swords, Axes, Hammers, Daggers, Wands, Staves

Template:BowInfo: Bows

Template:ShieldInfo:Shields

Template:OffhandInfo: Focus Items

The image filepaths are automatically set up through the template, with the image name being the same as the page name and the image displayed at 160px. If it uses an existing skin or has more than one skin, the image name can be specified with image1=spaceholder, as follows:

For the salvage lines, include all materials that can be salvaged from the weapon, starting with the most common and putting a comma between each, i.e.: commonsalvage = Iron Ingots, Piles of Glittering Dust. Do not list a number range of how much material is salvaged, since this varies widely depending on the strength of the weapon. Note that Common crafting materials should be placed under commonsalvage and only Rare crafting materials should be placed under raresalvage.

Images[edit source]

Images of weapons should be appropriate to the class: swords should be held by a warrior, holy staves by a monk.

Description[edit source]

General information about the weapon. Includes a physical description of the weapon, some history about the item (if it was edited or added after release), the weapon's strategic role in the game (that specific weapon, not type of weapon it is), real-world information/history about the item, and so on.

If there are versions of the item with different appearances (or "skins"), be sure to describe both, and differentiate between the two in other sections. If possible, include a picture of each skin.

If there are items of the same skin with a different name, provide a link to these other items. The physical description of an item can naturally be copy-pasted to the entries of other items with that skin.

Same code for the Forked Sword:

Other swords with this appearance:
*Plasma Blade
*Spatha

Weapon Stats[edit source]

Do not include this section if the item does not have fixed stats. Include it if the item is only available from a Collector or weaponsmith, or if it always drops with the same stats (for example, the Icy Dragon Sword).

Location[edit source]

State where the item can be found. First state if the item is a random drop. If it is, list any of the following:

 • if the item can only be found in a certain area(s)
 • if the item is more likely to be found near the beginning or the end of the game
 • if either of the above are true, list if the weapon usually or commonly drops in a specific damage range (for example, Eternal Shields only drop in the Underworld, a high-level area, and usually drop at max or near-max Armor)
 • if the item only drops from a certain monster
 • if the item always drops as a certain color (i.e. Shadow Blades are always purple or gold)
 • if the item is of notable rarity

If you are not sure if any of the above factors apply, don't list them- no information is better than inaccurate information.

If the item is not a random drop, list where the item can be found (collector, crafter, etc). Be specific- list the name of the person it is available from, what area it's in, its cost (gold, crafting materials, collector items, etc).

If the weapon can only be found in a specific campaign, say so. If there are multiple skins of the item, list any location notes for each individual version of the item.

Dye[edit source]

Any notes on how dye affects the item goes here. Note what part of the item is colored by dye, and any discoloration effects that occur (for example, orange appearing as bright green on a Holy Rod). If the item cannot be dyed, say so. Leave this section in if no information is available, so that someone who has the information will know to fill it in.

Notes[edit source]

Miscellaneous notes that do not fit in any of the above sections go here. If the item was added in a game update, include it here. Do not include this section if there are no notes.
