Dye charts[edit source]

Perhaps a dye chart project could be created to help coordinate the addition of charts?

Stale projects?[edit source]

A number of these projects have been on the page for ages. I wonder if it would be sensible to divide them up into (perhaps) five sections:

  1. Timely/urgent projects (e.g. move-related and War in Kryta items)
  2. Nearly completed projects (i.e. looking for that final 20%)
  3. New projects (i.e. recently added — after 2-3 months, they end up in one of the other sections)
  4. Stale projects (i.e. those that haven't been worked on in ages and need a sponsor)

The main point is to clean up the list so that they are more likely to be picked up by those looking for ways to help and, therefore, be a productive resource in driving projects to completion. Currently, it seems to me that most of us ignore the mostly static list and it's hard to see what really needs doing.  —Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 05:13, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

I suggest doing any cleaning up after the fork so that the separate communities can set their own priorities. --◄mendel► 14:12, October 6, 2010 (UTC)
Except that we have projects that should be completed now and the status quo makes the status of projects hard to see. There is only one community at the moment and it has priorities. Without a scheduled date to move, I think it's important to highlight the projects important to us at the moment. The clearest example of something beneficial to everyone is finishing the War in Kryta items project (of which, apparently, most people were unaware). There are also things that should happen to make things easier on everyone before, during, and after the move and there's no reason the burden for that should land entirely at the feet of 2-3 people.
That list has been largely dormant since I joined the wiki; I think it's high time we made good use of it.  —Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:00, October 6, 2010 (UTC)
Cleaning up the projects isn't going to affect the move in any way. I think mendel was just implying that if you are really against contributing to Wikia, then you should stop contributing now. And I agree - anything we can put off doing until after the move, we should, so that our new site can immediately be an improvement on Wikia's leftovers. Notice that I haven't been pushing any new SMW projects for the past couple weeks. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 16:07, October 6, 2010 (UTC)
If you really want to do something, TEF, you could write the pages you want to create wordpad or something, and save those. That way, when we move, we get a few new pages instantly, and have pages the wikia copys doesnt have. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 17:13, October 6, 2010 (UTC)
Only 2 of the thirteen project pages have been updated by a human within the last 12 months. Only 2 of the remaining 11 have been updated in the last 24. How is it a good thing for the Guild Wars Community to act as if those projects are still active? No one has argued that it would be bad for the wiki to separate current projects from stale ones. (I am not offering up new projects. However, if there was a move-related project, it would be lost in all the noise.)  —Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:24, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
BY ALL MEANS, clean up the projects! We're not saying don't do it at all! Just wait until after we move, which hopefully won't be long now. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 16:32, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
