DPL

Transfer to Curse code broke galleries?

(copied from Talk:Tormented items/Gallery)

Not sure if anyone's noticed/is working on this, figured I'd point it out if not. All galleries have this 'Extension DPL (warning): current configuration allows execution of DPL code from protected pages only.' error now. Ethigenetic 11:02, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

I've copied this to GuildWiki talk:Welcome to Curse; we're aware of this. --◄mendel► 11:22, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

I tried looking at the armor section on this Wiki, and for some reason I cannot see it. It says "'Extension DPL (warning): current configuration allows execution of DPL code from protected pages only.' " Any help on this would be appreciated. TheSeer99 02:00, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Which pages exactly did you encounter problems on? Individual armor galleries seem to work for me. Felix Omni Signature 02:05, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
It's the profession indexes, e.g. Warrior armor. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 02:17, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I can't see the Index's for any of the professions. TheSeer99 02:50, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

DPL Cleanup

I have looked at (and fixed) all DPL tags that were on pages in main and Talk: directly; I haven't looked at User: space , and most importantly, there are some templates that use them that probably need to have some pages they're applied to protected. Thanks to those who came before me, protecting some pages and most armor galleries. --◄mendel► 10:25, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

I'm done with User: space, deferring my own until I'm finished properly moving it.
Templates affected are Template:Ban, Template:List orphans, Template:ImagesOnPage, Template:Delete, Template:WeaponInfo.gallery/doc, Template:TravelerLocationInfo, and Template:Nicholas the Traveler/dialogue. Please strike any that have been dealt with (including any pages they might be used on).
It is possible that some mainspace pages that have DPL on them are transcluded elsewhere, in which case there might still be pages with broken DPL around; searching the wiki for the error message (Extension DPL (warning): current configuration allows execution of DPL code from protected pages only.) might turn these up. --◄mendel► 06:49, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Fix them yourself. :P —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 15:45, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Done, thank you. There are a lot of Interwiki links in the database linking to wikia sites that ought to be removed (can't find anyuseful links in all the static), but letters a nd b alone were 68 deletions - any chance we'll get some databse access soon so we can just delete the lines in that table with a tool that doesn't make this a pain? --◄mendel► 11:19, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Please pester Bryan about that. I've been trying to, but he keeps ignoring it. We desperately need shell/database access. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 13:27, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Is the problem that he doesn't think we should have shell access, or that he doesn't know Donovan promised it to us? Felix Omni Signature 14:40, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
All the Wikia links were wiped by Kaelten at my request, I restored w: and answers: ; any others that need to be restored from my backup copy? --◄mendel► 22:27, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Nicholas Sandford

Nicholas Sandford's table of trophies collected and the Zaishen Mission Schedule table are both screwed up for me. The Zaishen table says Error: invalid time. Nicholas's table says the same thing as well as Expression error: Unexpected < operator. Those two pages are the two things I tend to check the most often so its a bummer that they're not working yet. I'm not too worried about encountering a couple of problems on Day 1 of the relaunch though-- I just hate having to look at anything on Wikia what with how hideous it is over there. Zqrahll 22:12, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

That's due to a default setting in the StringFunctions extension. It's too small for what the templates in that table need to do. I've passed this on to Bryan, should be fixed shortly. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 22:46, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
It's fixed. --◄mendel► 10:29, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Guide Categories

The guides category list seems rather blank... Category:Guides Yamagawa 07:39, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

It's not "blank" for me. 12 subcategories, 15 pages. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 13:33, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
I have 0 guides in the sub-categories. Yamagawa 15:56, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Are you referring to the numbers in parentheses next to each subcat? Those list how many sub-subcats are in each subcat, not how many pages are in each subcat. Category:Build archetypes, for example, has 37 pages. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 16:04, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
This may be a chair-keyboard interface problem.... when I click on the + next to the category names, I generally get a single line of text 'There are no sub-categories'. What I was expecting was the list of articles to show. Ah well, I can try the blue-links to the main category page. Yamagawa 16:16, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Categorytree can be configured to do that, and category pages possibly can, too; but as it is now, they work the same as over on w:c:guildwars:Category:Guides -- except that the new feature of automatically displaying images for the "top" categories has gone live, illustrating how Wikia "innovation" is bad for you unless you adapt and add an image to each guide. --◄mendel► 16:54, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Not to be especially fair, but I think that innovation is actually a good thing. It lets users associate an image with a topic, which happens all over in the game currently. (In fact, I recall some complaints from the PvP crowd for one of the April Fool's pranks that made it impossible to associate a character's appearance with their profession). I do like how it tracked on the Albino Rat for the pet guide. I'm sure people will now opt out of using ranger pets (and rangers altogether). Yamagawa 17:15, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Html tags

While looking at Talk:Rodgort's Invocation, I found that User:Cheese Slaya's signature leaves the rest of the page orange because the </font> does not work correctly. It seems to do this on every page that has his signature. It doesn't do this for Wikia so it must be something about the new site. I haven't found any other examples of this, but it could be a nuisance. User:N Segick Segick 20:38, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

We've seen this with a couple userboxes, too. It's due to an update to the core MW parser, where it would previously "fix" incorrectly-nested or unclosed tags, but now it doesn't (forcing editors to be more careful in their HTML coding, which is a very good thing). Unfortunately, with the API currently borked (see my talk page), we can't simply run a bot to fix this right now. Hopefully we'll get the API fixed on Monday. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 20:48, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
I did a bot run on that signature and another one to fix them for the big talk spaces. If there are any other signatures that need fixing, let us know. --◄mendel► 08:12, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Interwiki transclusion

... is disabled. See User:Randomtime. While not absolutely necessary, we do have 17 user (talk)pages that transclude a template from Wikia Central (mostly Wikia staff, plus RT and Balistic). Should we ask Curse to re-enable this, or can we get by without it? —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 23:15, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

I think we ought to get by without it. We could ask the active editors whom it concerns (i.e. RT) to edit their pages, and change the interwiki links to ''see [[w: ...]]'' as maintenance edits to fix those broken transclusions. --◄mendel► 03:05, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

galleries

On Wikia, <gallery> tags could use the image names without the File: or Image: prefix; it is needed here. If you see any broken galleries, just add File: before each image name to get them working again. --◄mendel► 09:22, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Done -- RandomTime 08:39, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

The createbox on Forum:Index is broken, despite specifying break=no. ;) --◄mendel► 09:49, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Shout Skills Icons

All shout skills whose name has quotes in them lack icons. I suppose it's a migration error that renamed all of them because of the quotes, or similar problem. Sotaknuck 17:04, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

" skill icons

Missing icon on Monster skill and listed icon that should not be there (and isn't) at Category:Fansite_kit_image_license/no_icons. --◄mendel► 10:14, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

It'll be fixed whenever Bryan installs my extension. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 13:59, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Missing Template

Looking at the foci gallery, I see a missing template: Template:OffhandInfo.gallery I can try my hand at adding such a critter, but when I do it warns me the page was previously deleted. "unused, over a year old, please check for subst: use and/or whether a replacement exists" Thus, was the unused template in use, or was the used template replaced and this reference missed? Yamagawa 16:45, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Restored. Mendel tagged it for deletion, saying it was unused, but obviously it isn't. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 17:39, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
There should probably be an note about templates used for DPL. I'm unsure whether these galleries are complete; I seem to remember from when I tried to do them that some of those items still used the split iteminfo templates at the time. --◄mendel► 05:14, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Fixed. I can only recommend for anybody to document their templates well enough. (Still not sure whether the galleries are complete though.) --◄mendel► 08:18, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

CSS caps

The page User:Mendel/monobook.css ought to load for me for every page; however, what does load is http://www.guildwiki.org/index.php?title=User:Mendel/monobook.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css and that is empty; the content is at http://www.guildwiki.org/index.php?title=User:mendel/monobook.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css (the difference is the first letter of my username). Quite a bummer. Could this be the result of Felix Omni renaming my account to the "wrong" name? --◄mendel► 03:56, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Fixed. Nice. --◄mendel► 23:06, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

IP edits

Now and again I see IPs moving "their accounts" here. Has the move made user accounts for these IPs that are preventing them from editing? If so, these accounts probably ought to be removed from the database so anonymous editors can keep on editing effortlessly. --◄mendel► 18:00, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Fatal Userspace Error

Well, I seem to have migrated my account, but whenever I try to go to my userspace, I get "Fatal error: Call to a member function getNamespace() on a non-object in /home/guildwiki/public_html/extensions/WinFilenameFix.php on line 36". Is this a common problem for recent migrations? If not, how do I fix it?Entrea SumataeEntrea [Talk] 22:37, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Ugh, that's my extension. I don't know why it's doing that, but I'll check it out. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 22:40, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. Incidentally, it's also doing it to my shoepuppet account (User:Entrea), and our talk spaces too.Entrea SumataeEntrea [Talk] 22:44, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Well, seems to be fixed now. Thanks! Still a few kinks to work out. One of my userboxes seems to have decided to die, and the poll extension is missing, but that can wait, and may indeed get fixed on it's own. Crisis averted.Entrea SumataeEntrea [Talk] 23:04, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
The poll extension is not likely to come back, but we have widgets now. If you can recommend a good website for polls that could be iframe'd, I'm sure we could make a widget for that. If you point me to the userbox, I'll have a look; afaik we still have a problem with some string functions, but it could be something else. (Or it's a change in the wiki parser that got you.) --◄mendel► 23:34, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
It's the same box that got Isk8. Middle one, last row, Weakness icon. Needs a </font> tag. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 23:41, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
I found the bug. You have a link that points to [[wikipedia:Portal %28video game%29]]. I wasn't decoding URL entities before passing the link text to the parser to generate a title object, which caused the parser to return undef. Added a simple urldecode($linktext), and it works on my local wiki now. I'll had it off to Bryan on Monday. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 04:58, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Ishy's todo

For reference: Me -> Bryan on Monday.

  1. Why is FTP borked?
  2. Why is API borked?
  3. Why is Special:MultipleUpload borked?
  4. Hand off updated filename-fixer extension
  5. Hand off new UserSigProtect extension
  6. Ensure they are working on group rights (should mirror Wikia)
  7. Add Category namespace to subpages array

Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 05:13, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

API is mostly fixed. action=edit requests to the API work, but AWB still can't generate most lists other than Category. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 03:14, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

PvX

The [[PvX:]] namespace creates URL's to non-existant pages. There is a /Wiki/ in the URL that should not be there. Example Main Page. I can't recall where this is set and if non-admins can edit it. HimmTaeguk (T/C) 15:24, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

deleterevision

On Wikia, only bureaucrats had the 'deleterevision' permission. However, sysops could achieve the same effect, albeit with a lot more work, by first deleting a page, then restoring all but the non-desired revision. This also had the disadvantage of leaving no visible trace in the article's history; with the revision delete function, a placeholder for the deleted revision is still shown in the history list.

It seems like it would make sense to grant this permission to sysops as well, since all it would do is simplify something we can already do anyway. (If we've already had this conversation and I forgot, sorry, there's been a lot of stuff happening.) —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 20:05, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Delete revision on GWW is given to all the sysops, and it is handy, except for when you need to delete multiple revisions (at that point, the delete page, restore good revisions seems faster). Not that I'm saying we copy GWW, but that's my experience. --JonTheMon 20:17, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Asked for this yesterday on IRC - no objections seemed to be raised there. Strong support 88.108.106.123 21:03, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Neither is used very often, so whether sysops have it or not is of little practical consequence. I understood deleterevision to be a way to hide personal information even from past and future sysops, and as such there is some minor merit to not extend it to them. Or do I misunderstand what the right actually does?
Also, I don't have the RC links for it that I have on wikia, and https://guildwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Special:RevisionDelete?target=User:Mendel&oldid=1575620 tells me You have either not specified a target revision(s) to perform this function, the specified revision does not exist, or you are attempting to hide the current revision, so it seems to not actually be working right now, or I don't have the rights for it. --◄mendel► 23:11, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
I understood it as a way to completely hide objectionable material from the public. Like yesterday, when a link that (purportedly) led to pornography was posted to the admin noticeboard, and RT deleted the page, then restored all but that one revision. That could have been simplified if he had the deleterevision permission. There is an additional permission 'suppressrevision' that can hide revisions even from users with deleterevision. The recommended settings at mw:Manual:RevisionDelete give deleterevision to sysops, and suppressrevision to a special suppress group.
RC and error message: That's because the permission has not been granted to anyone yet. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 23:40, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
I say give deleterevision to all sysops and give suppressrevision to me bureaucrats. Felix Omni Signature 23:59, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

What happened to hide revision?--Łô√ë Ho ho ho!îğá†ħŕášħ 00:46, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
It was bureaucrats only on Wikia and apparently we didn't carry it over. Felix Omni Signature 00:50, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
It's the same thing. Wikia is still using the original extension-based implementation, but it's been incorporated into the core Mediawiki code as of version 1.16. The permission was renamed from 'hiderevision' to 'deleterevision', but it's the same functionality. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 01:19, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Bryan has enabled deleterevision for sysops. I have asked him to add suppressrevision for crats.
Also, most of our groups and permissions are finally set up. Check Special:ListGroupRights to see if anything should be changed. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 17:43, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Spotted one thing - Autoconfirmed currently have suppressrevision. If we don't want even rollbackers to have it because "it's a form of deletion," then we'd better remove it from autoconfirmed. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 18:03, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Guildwiki.org instead of guildwars.wikia.com

Quite a lot of templates, pages, etc still link to guildwars.wikia instead of guildwiki.org. Over the next few days, I'll try and check most of the non-talk namespaces, and change the ones that are appropriate. If anyone else wants to help, be my guest. -- RandomTime 10:01, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
