Warning

This article or section is related to the sequel to the original Guild Wars and is based on pre-release information. Since the game is not yet available, this information is subject to change.

Primordus is the Fire Elder Dragon that slumbered in the Depths of Tyria. The Asura, who believed Primordus to be a statue, created the Central Transfer Chamber nearby Primordus in order to use the magic that seeped from it to power their gate network. The Great Destroyer is Primordus' general and champion.

Primordus was the first of the Elder Dragons to awaken. After awakening, it began to summon an army deep below Tyria. After Primordus's awakening, the other Elder Dragons began to awaken one by one approximately every fifty years.

Notes

  • Primordus can be seen awakening in the final cutscene, Ogden's Benediction, of Eye of the North.
  • Primordus can be seen in the final mission in Guild Wars: Eye of the North, looming over the chamber with the Great Destroyer, and can be seen in the second and final vision cinematics.

Trivia

  • Primordus could refer to the word Primordial meaning being or happening first in sequence of time, or biology belonging to or characteristic of the earliest stage of development of an organism or a part.
  • Primordus could also stem from the combined Latin words "Primus," meaning first, and "ordo," meaning series.
