Rollerbeetle Race is a mini-game to be featured in the upcoming Canthan New Year special event.

In this game the player takes the form of a Rollerbeetle and competes with 5 other players in a race. This is not a "normal race," though, as the player may use skills to boost speed and skills to slow down and hinder competitors. The mechanics of the Rollerbeetle are thought to be similar to that of Junundu.

Skills

The player's normal skillbar is replaced with a fixed skillset as follows:

  1. Rollerbeetle Dash: Extreme speedboost.
  2. Harden Shell: Speedboost and defense against knockdown.
  3. Ram: Skill, which knocks down all adjacent opponents, and provides a large speed boost for 2 seconds.
  4. Distracting Lunge: temporary disables all of opponents skills.
  5. Spit Rocks: Projectile knockdown.
  6. Rollerbeetle Echo: Echo skill, similar to Echo.
  7. Rollerbeetle Blast: Knock down opponent.
  8. Super Rollerbeetle: Extreme speedboost and defense against knockdown.

How It Works

Players will become a rollerbeetle and then race along a standard track, using skills to advance their position.

The first three skills (Rollerbeetle Dash, Harden Shell, and Ram) are available at the start of the race and recharge whenever the racer passes a checkpoint.

There are pick-ups in the form of boxes with a question mark, that will randomly charge only one of your other skills.

Scoring

At the start of the race every player starts off with 600,000 points. For each additional second it takes for a racer to finish, they lose 1,000 points. This means that all scores are actually times measured in seconds to three decimal places.

Rewards

Gamer Points are awarded for different places:

First place receives 7 Lunar Token, 7 Gamer faction and 100 Balthazar Faction.
Second place receives 5 Lunar Token and 5 Gamer faction.
Third place receives 3 Lunar Token and 3 Gamer faction.
Fourth place receives 2 Lunar Token and 2 Gamer faction.
Remaining Players will receive one Lunar Token if you reach the end of the track.

Notes

You get the amount of Gamer points equal to how many Lunar Tokens you receive.

Trivia

The mechanics of this minigame seem to be based off of Mario Kart.
