Talk:Artisan

Name[edit source]

"Rare material crafter" isn't a real term, last I checked. Technically, "artisan" isn't either—the vendors in-game just have [Materials] next to their names—but since most of them have the word "artisan" in their name, I think this is better. —Tanaric 00:17, 20 Jul 2005 (EST)

Materials Table[edit source]

I moved the materials table from the artisan list over to artisan. I modified the formating a little, but I'm not quite happy with it yet. Foremost I think that the collumn "Used for armor" shouldn't be here. This kind of information should be under rare crafting material or crafting material, not under artisan. --Tetris L 19:32, 1 Oct 2005 (EST)

Anyone? If nobody objects, I'll remove the column. --Tetris L 02:34, 5 Oct 2005 (EST)
I think this is a good idea, but someone should move the actual information someone else first (so a user looking for this info can at least find it somewhere at all times; better that it exist in two places for a while than zero). --JoDiamonds 02:18, 28 October 2005 (EST)

Since most of the time, buying you rare materials outright from the trader is CHEAPER than have it "artisaned" for you, wouldn't this article benefit from a list of rare materials that are CHEAPER to aquire from an artisan than a trader? -- Euler278 01:03, 3 December 2006 (CST)

"Cheaper" depends on the current market price and which territory you're in. --Ab.Er.Rant Necromancer (msg Aberrant80) 05:26, 3 December 2006 (CST)
Eh...I dunno about other materials, but the one consistent price-saving craft is for Roll of Parchment. Necros and Monks need them often, and you literally could use up hundreds crafting even non-15k armors. Even from when I first started playing the price (100 gold or more) for 1 Roll at the Trader, is greater than the crafting cost of 20 gold + 5 wood at the Artisan. Wood is a consistently cheap material, and the price rarely shifts from 40 gold/ten...so, 5 X 4 = 20g + 20g crafting cost = total bill of 40g from artisan. You thus save 60g on each roll. Not to mention the fact that wood is probably one of the most, if not the easiest to find material in-game... Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 04:08, 22 February 2007 (CST)

Needs updating?[edit source]

Does anyone know what information needs to be checked? The list of materials that artisans craft is correct...and the price/common material amounts are correct. Shouldn't we make the last column a link to category:uses ___, so that we don't need to keep this page in sync?   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:26, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
