Needs more formatting and divs. I like divs. Felix Omni Signature.png 13:22, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Congratulations, you now have an invisible div that does almost nothing. :P —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 13:29, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Those are the best kind of divs. Felix Omni Signature.png 13:42, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
I agree.--TalkpageEl_Nazgir 14:50, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Stuff[edit source]

So after bouncing ideas off Wyn for a little while, I've come to following conclusions. I'd really like to see community news become a big area for GuildWiki, and coordinating with Guild Wars Guru would also be very smart for us because we'd get lots of Curse support and hopefully new contributors too. So I'm going to start watching the events forum on guru and pestering the posters there to add their events to the wiki too (or let one of us do it). Maybe I could get a sticky in the forum too. I'd also like to create an Event namespace, where every event has its own page, and then the central page (right now this article) would be similar to GWW's featured articles, in that each event would have a header, an image, a short blurb, and then the "... See more here" dealio. Maybe we could steal their formatting too, if no one here has better ideas. Events would be removed from the central page a week after they've occurred (just an arbitrary length, open to discussion).

Do people think this is feasible, or too ambitious? And who would be willing to help facilitate it? Felix Omni Signature.png 16:01, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

what would you do in the case of multiple events at the same time? (it's unlikely to occur, but it's certainly a possibility). Phenaxkian 16:52, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
I like the idea; promoting community initiatives is essential to the vitality of the community. There are some great ones that have been run in the past and more advertising never hurt anyone. Guild Wars Guru would love to collaborate and coordinate with you on this - we'll be in touch! JennGuru 00:53, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
During the "busy" season (just finished) there are often concurrent events, but I'm sure it can be dealt with. Felix, how were you thinking of integrating this on the main page? -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 07:39, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
I think in the case of concurrent events they could be ordered alphabetically or really by any arbitrary system. The headers could include dates. As for main page integration, I think if this really does take off it deserves more than just a single line, but honestly I have no clear ideas right now. This could easily replace the "login announcements" box, since the weekend events are just the same things over and over now. Even GWW has reduced the weekend event to a single entry in the daily/weekly lists. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 02:47, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
Well, you have my support, and I will assist in any way (i.e. get a news blurb on etc.) I know that Jenn and Kvinna at Guru are both interested in forging a better relationship between the two sites. Keep me posted :D -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 03:50, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
Good idea, ish- we could put a login announcements link where the Community News link is in the editcopy now, and figure out some sort of short format for the events. Felix Omni Signature.png 15:44, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Still hoping to get in touch with you soon, Felix! I'll be idling in the various IRC channels. Send me a message if you see me online. I'm usually signed in as Jenn or Jennar. JennGuru 16:53, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
