The concept of "flight time" for bows isn't well documented or explained - I believe that these flight times were recorded at the maximum shortbow range, so thesse are in fact 60' flight times - without a distance measure however a flight time is ambiguous and somewhat meaningless - it might be assumed to be the flight time to the maximum range of the bow, or that the flight time is fixed, regardless of distance. --Epinephrine 05:22, 9 March 2006 (CST)

The flight time can't possibly be fixed regardless of distance. try shooting a warrior who chopping at you with his hammer, it's not going to take a whole second of flight from your bow to the warrior's chest. otherwise you would be firing your arrows straight up. --Pyro05x 21:17, 7 June 2006 (CDT)

Why does this have just Canthan flatbow collectors? --MasterPatricko 14:41, 3 October 2006 (CDT)

Maybe because the bow was only just introduced in Factions? I really dont know though.--Windjammer 04:11, 27 December 2006 (CST)

This has got to be the best general use bow for archers. Distance of a Longbow, speed of a shortbow, and with Read the Wind: accuracy of a Recurve bow!--Windjammer 04:11, 27 December 2006 (CST)

Agreed. Read the Wind makes this the best bow type. If I'm using that as my prep, I always go with a Flatbow. Arshay Duskbrow 07:05, 25 January 2007 (CST)

Pulling[]

Would it be worth noting that this is a very good type of bow to do pulling? The longer flight time allows you to actually retreat further than with a longbow and in some cases this is highly advisable - especially if you try to pull, say, Terrorweb Dryders into your spirits ... you'll get burned with a longbow but you usually escape unscathed when using a flatbow.79.216.187.209 10:32, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

It can also be a detriment when you have a height advantage, and are trying to pull mobs that only pull a short distance. If the arrow hits and you are too far away, monsters just don't care. (i.e. in my opinion, neither is strictly better) --Vipermagi 12:49, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
I think it might be worth putting in a combined note; a lot of players don't seem to understand how bow type affects their pulling attempts. Perhaps:
The Flatobow's high arc allows pullers more time to retreat than they would have using a Longbow; this helps draw caster foes, but can make it harder to attract PvE enemies tied more closely to their default point.
