Exploit[edit source]

Can anyone actually confirm that this exploit actually works? I read the Topic on guru concerning this, but I mean, how is this possible? [1] Frantic 07:14, 13 August 2007 (CDT)

Possible or not, there was a game update that disabled reconnection as a result of this exploit. We should document it. As for how they did it, one can theorize but I'd rather not do so in a public forum where many wanna-be scammers can get more ideas. :P --Karlos 07:20, 13 August 2007 (CDT)
Even after reading on it, I still can't fathom how they did it. And with the disabled reconnects, this particular method doesn't work any more. It's all so confusing. And to think I was annoyed at ANet for screwing around with reconnects while my connection wasn't very stable. Oh well, at least I know it's for a good cause. --Kale Ironfist 07:29, 13 August 2007 (CDT)
LOL Anet is starting to ban the players that got caught, everyone is deleting their ambraces :D, justice has been served!!! I only hope that those people that bought their tormented weapons legit, won't be punished. Frantic 04:12, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
The way they used the reconnect is with 2 pc's, or 2 ppl with access to the same acct. They would go into an explorable area, force a reconnect, sit at the reconnect screen... Then 2nd pc would log in to that same acct, trade the items wanted to be duplicated to a 3rd person, then log off... Then they would go back to the 1st pc waiting to reconnect, then reconnect. And there is your dupe. Since it has been disabled, and will be patched, there is no harm in disclosing how it was done. Isk8 12:53, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
Im not even going to try it, as i risk getting my account banned... Cost me enough time and money to get my account and characters as they are now ;) Frantic 07:20, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
