11th January update[edit source]

Ever since the update the other day (jan 11th) ive been getting 007 errors every time i leave a town. And also another update a month or so ago has made all my Female npcs do a "running and jumping" emote non stop. e.g. Storage Xunlai agents run then jump, stop and then appear back at there location and do it again. I emailed anet about this but they didn't reply, big surprise there lol. I have heard of lots of people with this problem. I was in a party with 1 guy and we tried to enter a mission had to retry 5 times to get him to connect properly. Ive asked around in towns about the problem with the NPCs but no one knows how to fix it and they have sent away to anet as well. If anyone can help that would be great. thanks

Dejct Rejct

i've noticed errors like this before the update. A message briefly flashes on the screen saying "Your party is already waiting to begin the mission," then the game disconnects the user and throws you back to the login screen with a 007 error code. This typically happens to me at the entrance of Raisu Palace in Kaineng Center, but it's happened to me at the entrance of Viznuah Square (Local Quarter) in The Undercity. Its an intermittent bug that reeks of a software glitch to me. FlameoutAlchemist 17:59, 14 January 2007 (CST)
I've experienced the Kaineng Center to Raisu Pavilion bug since Factions was released. So I suspect it's not related to this new one that has shown up in many other places. -- bcstingg (talkcontribs) 22:30, 23 January 2007 (CST)

Actually this is a bug that many people have been complaining about since the removal of Wintersday 2006. Check out this forum here http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10104343 Lady Cometfish 22:40, 16 January 2007 (CST)
This looks like it is related to the bug patch "Fixed a bug that allowed some players to bypass teleportation portals." 24.247.41.84 02:10, 17 January 2007 (CST)

I have the same "Running and Jumping" glitch, but i've had i since the 21st of December. It happens to about 40% of npc's (Males)

The bug that causes the 007 error when leaving a town can be bypassed by switching to another district or if your on European servers to another language. This works pretty well, this bug has stopped for me personally.

Odd bug on client-start as of January 17, 3:00 EST (with new GW build)[edit source]

Mere minutes ago I restarted the game due to the "new build available" message at the bottom of the chat window. It downloaded successfully, but now when I attempt to start the client, it gives an error saying it "failed to install" the game itself. Hence I can not get on the game, which is bothering me quite a bit. This is odd, considering it's already installed (all 3 campaigns), and only did this after the new build. I can include a picture if you would like, but has anyone else noticed this? EDIT: I should also mention that I own the computer and also am its sole user (so yes, I have admin access), and have 37 gigabytes of free space, so I'm pretty much 100% certain that I'm not low on space, if anyone mentions the possibility. The error states:

"Unable to install

The installer could not write Guild Wars to the specified directory. Please check that you have administrative access, that you have permission to install programs in the specified directory, and that there is sufficient space available on the drive." ('OK button' with ArenaNet logo at bottom of window)

Hopefully that's descriptive enough, I considered uploading a picture of it, but thought that might be a waste. Shas'o Kauyon 15:10, 17 January 2007 (CST)

no problems for me — Skuld 15:28, 17 January 2007 (CST)
The problem might be solved by defragmenting. --Gem-icon-sm.png (talk) 15:33, 17 January 2007 (CST)
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10037429 for defragmenting, the new update just added another fragment and might've placed something in the wrong area
I have had friends where their GW.exe became corrupted. Best advice would be to uninstall Guild Wars and download the client package(it's free) and reinstall it. In case your unaware as well, uninstalling the client on your machine does nothing to your account. — Gares 15:49, 17 January 2007 (CST)
Well, at the moment I'm taking Gem's advice, and it seems that it might just do the trick (will know in about a minute or two, defrag near done). I know that un-install won't harm my account (done it before since I've repartitioned my hard drive a few times), I don't think I suggested it did? I just expressed frustration at the issue. But anyways, I'm more curious what this new build adds. I'll mention whether or not the defrag worked shortly, I believe it will considering GW.dat itself was pretty much 100% fragmented after update. Odd, since I do daily defrags. Shas'o Kauyon 15:54, 17 January 2007 (CST)
Is GW installed in a different location other than its default (IE C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\)? --SK Warrior-icon-small.png 15:57, 17 January 2007 (CST)
No, standard directory. Defrag is done, and the same bug is occurring, so I'm going to go ahead and re-install. Also already checked the shortcut's target path and tried running from the directory itself, to no avail. Hopefully the re-install will fix it. Shas'o Kauyon 16:01, 17 January 2007 (CST)
Well, uninstalled and used the client download, and same error. I'm going to goof around with my router settings to see if there's any security functions that could be causing a problem (I've had issues with it before in Half-life 2, not sure why it would suddenly "pop up" like this though), and short of that I'm not sure what else to do, other than contact Anet support. And I should probably stop the indentation increasing. Argh, I need to remember to sign, or for that matter, start a user page. Shas'o Kauyon 16:10, 17 January 2007 (CST)
Well, I think it's working now, though it's not all good news either, because it seems to me as if someone was somehow acessing my client on my own PC. The reason I believe so is because for some time, it would not allow me to delete GW.exe due to it being in use by another person or program, even AFTER killing nearly every running process on the PC via alt+ctrl+del (down to 13 processes, 100% Windows necessary services), yet I disconnected from the internet, restarted the pc and then it uninstalled fine (then reconnected just before re-install). Bah, good news=GW works, bad news=potential hacking :( . Scares me because I don't use any third party programs, and I spyware-sweep every day, so no idea why it would happen. If something goes wrong again, I'll edit this message instead of adding a new segment, this has gotten way too long since I'm so long-winded. Shas'o Kauyon 16:29, 17 January 2007 (CST)
Killing all the processes doesn't necessarily mean all the locks have been removed. Also hard killing a process (using kill -9 if you're familiar with linux) doesn't necessarily remove locks and will prevent a process from executing any normal cleanup/removal code. Lojiin 16:30, 17 January 2007 (CST)
Windows does mysterious stuff with your files without telling you or doesn't remove the 'lock' so it was probably just windows itself preventing you to delete it. --Gem-icon-sm.png (talk) 16:32, 17 January 2007 (CST)
Thank you Lojiin and Gem, you've managed to quell my raving paranoia :P. Back to normal then (game is working now, Huzzah for GuildWiki!), and thank you all VERY much for your help, it's greatly appreciated. Sorry I wasted so much space on this, by the way. If you want you can delete this segment, as the problem is solved now and it's somewhat of an eyesore. I should really set up a Debian/Windows multi-boot again (used to have it dual-partitioned, but Cedega and Wine hate ATI cards so couldn't play any games...) Shas'o Kauyon 16:40, 17 January 2007 (CST)
Using space isn't a problem. Old stuff is archived when the page gets too long. (See the archive links at the top of the page) --Gem-icon-sm.png (talk) 16:52, 17 January 2007 (CST)

The actual update[edit source]

Any noticeable changes ? I couldn't find any. -- n00kie (Ping) 17:01, 17 January 2007 (CST)

Probably preparation for the weekend. --Gem-icon-sm.png (talk) 17:03, 17 January 2007 (CST)
There where... five files if I'm not mistaken. A bit too small for a "preparation" of you ask me :/ Anyway, I don't see any difference yet. If anyone finds something maybe it will actually be worth making an article :P — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o, 17:44, 17 January 2007 (CST)

Well, now that my client works again, the "actual update" has at least added something rather hilarious to my Koss! I've never actually seen their icon with the hardhat. Also, the white blob shifts with the model. (the text on the hardhat guy says "Under construction) EDIT: The hardhat guy is over what used to be the GUI icon for an Adamantine Falchion, if anyone wants to check their weapons. Shas'o Kauyon 20:59, 17 January 2007 (CST) Koss ui bug.JPG

Well, it seems the issue is actually the Adamantine Falchion. I took it off of him, and he's fine again. I can apply it to myself, and the same thing occurs. If anyone else has an Adamantine Falchion they'd like to test with, I have a feeling it will do the same thing. Shas'o Kauyon 21:40, 17 January 2007 (CST)

Don't worry about that glitch. I had it happen when I formatted my computer a couple months back. Basically I think it is something about some skins not being loaded or something yet. It went away after not too long. Just give it some time and it should work itself out. --RabiesTurtle 21:49, 17 January 2007 (CST)

Yep, gone now. Shas'o Kauyon 21:55, 17 January 2007 (CST)

It did that to me on the first day Nightfall came out. My bonus items had the "Under Construction" symbol, but they were gone when i closed and restarted Guild Wars Shortay35424 22:11, 17 January 2007 (CST)

Someone reported that his keyless chest was totally empty at GWO: http://guildwars.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=439321 - something that should be checked. I do not really want to do it, and already opened 90% of the chests. Any volunteers? <g> --Long 01:28, 18 January 2007 (CST)
"No, the chests are for the holidays. They are not permanent." from [1]. Took along a guildie whose new character had not yet opened the chest at Mehtani Keys -- when they tried to open it it was empty Fox Bloodraven 04:06, 18 January 2007 (CST)
Then she lied before. There's a post somewhere with her saying they are permanent. The sole reason I didn't spend the Xmas period chest running these things. Great work again ANet... --SK Warrior-icon-small.png 04:20, 18 January 2007 (CST)
Edit - Here we are --SK Warrior-icon-small.png 04:25, 18 January 2007 (CST)
They're supposed to be permanent. If they're not working, it's a bug, not a stealth-nerf. Report it. -Immortius 04:26, 18 January 2007 (CST)
I did take my warrior to the chest just outside Gate of Pain, and found it empty. I guessed that I just forgot I already took it there, but now I'm not that sure. Foo 04:24, 18 January 2007 (CST)
Maybe your folks chests are just bugged. Recently (on a NF character, post Xmas) I opened two or three unlocked chests in Issnur Isles and Mehtani Keys - a Buried Treasure, a Treasure Chest, and a something else. Got ~500 gold and a gold weapon from each one. They seem permanent to me. Entropy 04:36, 18 January 2007 (CST)
There may be a bug in these treasures. I went with a friend to the Buried Treasure on Issnur Isles and opened it. I got the gold (around 500) a golden weapon, but my friend got nothing. He also couldn't use it after me. We rezoned and went there again, he even went there alone, nothing. For him, the treasure is used without getting anything. But that was before the patch. -Khan Reaper Kerensky 05:28, 18 January 2007 (CST)
I just (2 minutes ago) got a Drop & Gold from the Treasure Chest in Mehtani Keys, I will check the other "keyless" drops ASAP. Raxous wiki sig.png- Raxous -Raxous wiki sig.png 05:48, 18 January 2007 (CST)

Gaile has stated the update was to change server configuration in China (see here). Any undocumented side effects? -Immortius 06:20, 18 January 2007 (CST)

2MB of config file is HUGE. I don't get why they needed to update the rest of the world. Is China even able to play GW ? (I'm referring to their firewall) And if they are, why don't they have a territory yet ? -- n00kie (Ping) 08:59, 18 January 2007 (CST)
Taiwan, Macao and Hong Kong have a Territory. China is currently in Beta Testing. All players have the same client. Even if you're in the USA you can select a variety of European and Asian languages. There's just no practical reason to have separate clients in different parts of the world. — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o, 10:04, 18 January 2007 (CST)
Think of the players. Is it fair for someone holding hoh for 30 minutes to be booted because a friggin chinese server needs a new config ? And yes, you can select languages, but you can't switch your territory so that shouldn't matter. I also think it's exaggerated that MY game client received a 2MB update because of a change in configuration on a server I don't and probably will never interact with. -- n00kie (Ping) 10:31, 18 January 2007 (CST)
Nookie, consider it this way - if you didn't get that one config change, then each game client around the world would start to diversify - there would be code in China clients that you didn't have and vice versa. It would be harder to apply something related (like changing North American servers), to apply fixes to a bug in one client as compared to another... game changes would take longer to bring into effect & test on different clients, and it would eventually break things down. Craw 10:57, 18 January 2007 (CST)
You can complain all you want, but it just doesn't make sense for ANet to have separate clients for each country. That would mean a lot more code to look after with move potential bugs. Not to mention that 99.9% of the code would be the same anyway besides the language and server information. --RabiesTurtle 10:59, 18 January 2007 (CST)

January 23rd[edit source]

So, I had to download some data this morning and got my client updated (my firewalls tells me that) but no news here what it was about. I suppose since the testing weekend ended, all skill-changes got undone. Or were any overtaken permanetly? Is everything back to before the weekend? What was the use of it then? --Birchwooda Treehug 09:39, 23 January 2007 (CST)

Haha :D Oh, I wish I could have seen it ;] — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o, 16:35, 23 January 2007 (CST)
I don't know if that was caused by an update as I've seen that before (months back, before Nightfall came out). --Rainith 16:59, 23 January 2007 (CST)
When Vasburg changes hands, a new set of guards for the dominant faction spawn (revive?) and kill the guards of the other side. What likely happened is that the pathfinding lead the two groups to the pillar and then decided that the shortest path for each to their opposing side was to go clockwise/counterclockwise around the pillar. Since they move at the same speed, they will, of course, never catch each other unless one of the members gets caught somehow. --SarielV

Reordering ANet descriptions[edit source]

I couldn't find a better place to discuss this (and if there is, please link me) so this is where I will bring it up. Currently the practice is to leave the update descriptions exactly how ANet releases them. I do believe this is a sound policy and should stay mostly in place. Where I do think some improvement can happen is on the skill changes that ANet listed. Occasionally they will release bullet points which are honestly rather sloppy in nature and make it difficult to find the information you are searching for. This most recent update is one of those cases. They might have done it purposely to make it harder to compare the skills to the temporary weekend, or maybe they just had to rush the update out... either way the list of the current skills for the 2/1/07 update makes it difficult to quick references the changes.

What I am proposing is to amend the policy on keeping ANet update descriptions to where we maintain the wording, but can modify the order of the description for easier reference. This wouldn't be exercised often unless in the case of massive updates or especially skill updates where a long list can be tough to sort through. What do you think? --RabiesTurtle 21:53, 1 February 2007 (CST)

You know what they did right?[edit source]

Well yeah, they need to get you used to the nerfed stuff again, else how would they sell the overpowered skills from chapter 4? ;) I guess as a PvE-only player, this stuff just doesn't bother me so much. I'm flexible. -- Peej 09:11, 2 February 2007 (CST)
I think my experience in City of Heroes has made me immune to minor nerfs in GW. Cryptic pulled several game-changing nerfs over a couple years. I can't really get too worked up about Anet's minor skill changes, especially when there are as many (more?) buffs as nerfs in the update. — HarshLanguage HarshLanguage 10:14, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Tinfoil Helm. Seriously, they always balance the game after new skills, players find interaction and ways to use them that Anet can't forsee. This isn't has big has when they change the air ele skills for the spike team at the begining of the game or the full smiting monks team in tombs. New skills mean rebalance and they will do it for chapter 4 also.—├ Aratak 10:22, 2 February 2007 (CST)
"Game changing nerfs" look at the MM nerf (I was Inactive for a while due to damaged comp) one login nice fair powered MM next login "OMG Biggest Nerf Ever"
They were really overpowered and they still get use very often but yes this also confirme that this ain't a really a game changing update.—├ Aratak 12:42, 2 February 2007 (CST)
The more you can nerf it, the more overpowered it must've been to begin with. :P -- Peej 13:20, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Personally, though, I'd rather see skills ~buffed~ than to see skills nerfed. Ether Signet, Mirror of Ice, Skull Crack, Otyugh's Cry. Craw 13:44, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Discord is a factions skill? The campaigns don't mean annything to me anymore I have all the necro skills capped =X --Dazra 15:58, 2 February 2007 (CST)
They do 10 times as many buffs as nerfs. People just don't notice them as much, because the buffs are to rarely used skills, and the nerfs are to popular skills, both for obvious reasons.--Per Abrahamsen 17:13, 2 February 2007 (CST)
People notice them. Do you really think changes like, "Feral Lunge lasts 5 seconds longer." is going to impact their viability at all though? The problem with most of the buffs is that the way they buff the skill never had anything to do with why it wasn't viable in the first place. The same goes for a handful of the nerfs, such as Avatar of Grenth. The only way it's going to become balanced by tweaks to energy cost, duration, and disabled time are if they nerf it into unusability. Merengue 10:31, 10 February 2007 (CST)

I like the way they balance skills. Frankly I think a lot of people are complaining a time or two too often when they jiggle the skills around. Don't sweat it. Just look at the skills that have been buffed and think of a new build. Isn't that what's fun about this game? Kessel 03:59, 3 February 2007 (CST)

I agree. Been having fun with alot of new builds recently. But I'm still very sad, my all time favorite skill Gale has been nerfed... Again. Swiftslash 04:17, 3 February 2007 (CST)

It's rough to put out a fully balanced game, harder yet to add content in a timeley manner that is going to be as well playtested as the original. This happens with every game. One can't blame anyone for needing to pay the rent either--it is after all a free online game that has to be sustained somehow. So for me the timing of their release is highly forgiveable as well as the playbalancing that spikes afterwards. But I still have an itch, and perhaps it's because I'm unable to figure it out in game. Perhaps you can help. The problem is this: The dervish class, in general is imbalanced. I play a mesmer primary, and I can't figure out any conters to them. No "effective" counters that seem to phase them in the slightest. They cast spells to quickly to interrupt (what few spells they cast) and they have the ubermost regen/self heal/immune to attacks (blocking etc.) skills in the game, and their energy is meant to be untouched aparently--now stack on top of this the ability to still continuousely dish out mass punishment! I am fully perpelexed. Oh yeah and they have snares and speed boosts to boot. Wait, oh yeah, they can heal their own teammates fairly enough. Now I'm not saying that they can do all these things all at once but, most of them (3/4 of the mentioned feats) they can perform in spades with almost any given build. I have continuousely thrown backfire, empathy, shatter enchantment, and ether Lord on a single dervish to absolutely no avail, and with 3 other teammates pounding on said same dervish at th same time as that dervish whacked back at them... Yeah, after about 1:30 we managed to take him down, but unfortunately this isn't an isolated case. Please tell me I'm wrong about them. I can contribute directly to the discussion so far about nerfing in general: Did Imention I'm a primary mesmer? Are all the nerfs on Mesmers supposed to mean that they are only good to PvE with a hoard of henchmen, or be that crucial tweak to GvG builds only? Are they meant to be only playable in 8 man teams? Fragility, energy denial, the exhorbitant cost of degen, the fact that most all hexes are easily removed unless stacked in heaps of cover hexes. Typical skill loadouts for 4 man teams balance this single factor out a little bit, but any self heal in the game can prevent any energy swallowing mes degen chain cast from doing it's job. So there you have it, my 50 cents is that Mesmers are underpowered to the point that they are nearly no fun to play in most game areas outside of the two mentioned, and the dervish class, in general outplays most classes in the game, skill per-skill. I like the challenge of coming up with new builds, that is what the game is about, and I'm not the player that quits in RAs just because there's no monk on my team, I'm a trooper, but frankly the playbalancing tweaks reveal what i believe to be a disturbing trend. --Rafe Alexander 07:53, 13 February 2007 (CST)

I get what you mean about mesmers. IMHO, with mesmers, their degen is subpar compared to Necromancer (Mesmers get 1-3 more pips, but have none of the side benefits and 2 of these three: Higher cost, higher casting time, higher recharge.) Then Mesmer snares are weaker than the cheaper, faster, more spammable AoE hexes you get from water. Beyond all of that, 90% of their power is too conditional to be put to good use. When's the last time you saw a Mesmer in serious PvP play, without Diversion on their skill bar? It's the only reason Mesmers see high-end PvP now.
Regarding dervishes - you just need to implement either a melee shutdown or a caster shutdown. They're somewhat vulnerable to both. Enchantment removal, snare-hexes and melee counters. IMHO, treat them like a tank, try to disable them while taking out their buddies, then wipe them up. Craw 11:27, 13 February 2007 (CST)

Well, I was out running a degen lineup in PvE and was surprised at how effective it was. I know I couldn't perform the same task as a necromancer, the cast times are waaaay too long. And i was able to manage energy enough to whre i found it more effective to spread the various Illusion degens I had equipped (usually 10 energy 1 sec casts) around to all the mobs. I believe I was more effective than any necromancer could be in this respect,a nd played out in this manner. I had none of the resiliency that the health regen gives to the necro though of course, just good old trusty Ether Feast and the hero/Hench Monks... Overall i was kicking arse. So they have the play style down great. I've always played mesmers with the "sprad the love," mentality--true meddling. I don't mind playing PvP like this but it makes the requirements to be effective on the field cumbersome, and just to be on the field Monks are a must. If I were to narrow down my complaint mor accurately, I would have to say that Mes's don't have enough "defensive meddling powers." Or perhaps their meddling powers are lacking in defensive augments. you have to have an elite skill to get a defensive effect, like Ineptitude. If you want dodge it's going to cost you out the nose and you'll be out of energy in no time at all, re: Distortion. Sympathetic Visage has to hit and only lasts 10 seconds. Quite tricky to employ effectively and if you get it wrong it's recharge is substantial. I rather enjoy using tricky spells effectively, but again, no defense. the lack of overall defenses in the mes lineup makes them nearly unplayable in RAs, and in CM and ABs less able to perform any given task or role effectively, although you can spam deaths to try to get objectives done. I find I am restricted to playing off of people only, and if any attention comes to me I must run, every time--no exceptions. you'd think that we could have better hex defenses or snare escapes (that would be new to the game). Perhaps Sin secondary should be a requirement. Anyhow, thanks for your thoughtful reply.--Rafe Alexander 20:27, 13 February 2007 (CST)

It may be that they haven't gotten the notes up on their site yet. They don't always have them up when the update first hits. --Rainith 21:38, 6 February 2007 (CST)
I don't know how many files it was but it seemed rather small. The only thing I noticed is the new entry on the login screen. -- n00kie (Ping) 23:54, 6 February 2007 (CST)
According to the update notes, it's lip-syncing for the first two campaigns.--Sykoone 23:55, 6 February 2007 (CST)
N00kie, I don't think you're using the "-image" option then. The update was almost 2000 files and around 38MB of data. --Rainith 00:40, 7 February 2007 (CST)
Not immediately after an update, no. I only run it defrag style, about once a week or so. -- n00kie (Ping) 00:54, 7 February 2007 (CST)
The mad updates probably have a lot to do with the upcoming Canthan New Year celebrations. All new missions and such. Check out www.guildwarsguru.com for some well-dictated notes about it. FlameoutAlchemist 05:20, 7 February 2007 (CST)

Adding lip-synching to the older campaigns is a nice surprise update. — HarshLanguage HarshLanguage 01:15, 7 February 2007 (CST)

Finally!...Now I don't feel so outdated when playing through Prophecies anymore. :) 24.6.147.36 01:33, 7 February 2007 (CST)
Most awesome update since the Domain of Anguish was released. Definitely. :) -- Elveh 04:39, 7 February 2007 (CST)

Yeaah, now I can make Protector and look at cutscenes ~~ - Abedeus 04:04, 8 February 2007 (CST)

Uhh, you sure about that. They haven't fixed the horrible voice acting.... "Please don't hurt us!!" ;-) 69.179.188.152 04:19, 9 February 2007 (CST)

I have a SS Necro, and it seems if the 20/20 HSR/HCR Wand and Offhand combo doesn't do the HSR/HCR since the 6 Feb update - anybody else seen something similar?

Canthan New Year[edit source]

I just logged in and noticed that kamadan is dressed up.Wait for the official notes or post it already? Jelmewnema 17:00, 14 February 2007 (CST)

The notes were just added to the site. I'll edit if no one else got there before me. -- Elveh 17:05, 14 February 2007 (CST)
Are these changes permanent (apart from the decorations)? Ghost1 20:05, 14 February 2007 (CST)
I'm guessing the UI changes are permanent. –Ichigo724Ichigo-signature.jpg 20:16, 14 February 2007 (CST)
Wow, it took them long enough for some of these. Finally able to switch skills around! Finally able to use Miniatures in town! Blah, I've waited too long for these...and now there's finally a reason to goto places like Maguuma Stade and hang out. First come, first serve - unleash your minuatures before anyone else does! Entropy 20:19, 14 February 2007 (CST)
Why 20? Why not 50? Ghost1 20:35, 14 February 2007 (CST)
This just made Heroes so much better, it's not even funny. See a Hero using a skill too often, bump it back on the fly! I love it! And with the Skill Tab's "full descriptions" button, you can compare two skills side-by-side, AND tweak their Attributes! Fine-tuning a build was never so informative. Good job, Anet. BarGamer 04:04, 16 February 2007 (CST)

Does anyone hte this update, or is it just me? I Just lost KoaBD... and I am beginning to relize why so many ppl hate gad dam Anet! All my protector titles are... gone. (Reedem@G-account 20:37, 14 February 2007 (CST))

Go to Great Northern wall and "protest" like all the rest. —BlastThatT.jpgBlastedt 20:38, 14 February 2007 (CST)
Why the Great Northern Wall, why not Lion's Arch or Kaineng Center or Kamadan? Ghost1 21:18, 14 February 2007 (CST)
Cause there are people in those places. Go protest where they can't hear you ;p —Aranth Mesmer 22:34, 14 February 2007 (CST)
At least they didn't add anything like triple immune bosses, undocumented poison and mana burn, the ranged damage bug or the imfamous wisps. -- Gordon Ecker 04:59, 16 February 2007 (CST)

- they nerfed the easily opened chest at stygian veil( i checked five times and there was none)- shadows of demise

I've noticed another hidden update. Now when you press f12, there is a third option, which is to switch characters. No more having to log out to do that anymore Zuehlke 21:26, 14 February 2007 (CST)

They announced that update on the guild wars website.
I just noticed that too, My bad. Zuehlke 22:05, 14 February 2007 (CST)

Feb 16th Update[edit source]

When were pets ever allowed to become a wurm? I can't remember any time at all when any of my pets, or heroes pets, ever turned into a wurm.

I noticed that they do in the Gates of Desolation mission, but never outside of it. It's been like that for quite some time.

--Kit Engel 13:17, 17 February 2007 (CST)

I have a screenshot of my pet as a wurm. Although it may have been during the mission, will have to go back and doublecheck. Didn't really expect different behavior outside of the mission.

It introduced yet another bug with the guild window. (again, not really sure how long it's been around, as it's hard to test). I invited a person into our guild, and she didn't show up in the guild window. She could participate in guild chat, was in the guild, but neither the member count increased nor was she visible in the list. She was also set to "online" as I had been pm'ing her. After she logged off, she appeared in the list.Cyrogenic 03:50, 19 February 2007 (CST)

Where's the frickin Auction House?[edit source]

As I typed this it became far larger than I originally expected, and so I thought better and put it on my talk page. Please have a look. xxovercastxx 17:46, 15 February 2007 (CST)

Feb 19th Undocumented Update[edit source]

There was a small undocumented update - unsure on details. It hasnt stopped the event celebrations and the chefs are still there.

Seems to have fixed an exploit that involved ectos (just an example) and making them appear like there is more that there actually is by modifying the trade. --TigerWolf 09:36, 19 February 2007 (CST)

I'm not surprised about this update. I was camping in Shing Jea ID1 and when Gaile heard about this bug, she immediately sent out an email to the about it, and then a few minutes later said she thought it was important enough that she was going to call someone up. My guess is that there will (hopefully) be update notes about it on the official site later Monday or Tuesday (as Monday is a holiday here in the US). --Rainith 06:21, 19 February 2007 (CST)
It is now documented on the guildwars.com page.Cyrogenic 13:39, 19 February 2007 (CST) Took care of it.Cyrogenic 13:44, 19 February 2007 (CST)

Hero Targeting?[edit source]

Does anyone know when Hero targeting changed? I'm referring to the Recent Update Introduced Hero AI targeting issue thread on Guild Wars Guru. Apparently heroes now target what your character is targeting even if they are flagged very far away from your character. It looks like it was introduced very recently (Friday?). Argel 11:29, 19 February 2007 (CST)

I've found it's worse than that. The targetting is just mucked up, and it appears to be messed up in different ways for heroes and for henches. I had devona chase mursaat halfway across the map in ring of fire, while the entire rest of the party was off fighting some Jade armor about 3/4 radar away. She ignored everything. I also had a wipe at an ether seal (shouldn't have been), as I flagged my heroes to retreat so they'd pull the jade out, and the heroes went fine. The prot hero and cynn stayed right up on the front lines, about half a radar away... slugging it out. Other times, they just obey fine and I can finish the mission with little trouble or any heebie jeebie antics. Annoying, as I'd found the heroes/hench squad to be pretty reliable.Cyrogenic 13:33, 19 February 2007 (CST)
Imho this is not new and it has happened before the update. My personal experiences have mostly been with Stefan or Little Thom, though...they'll chase enemies all over and ignore a re-target or flag until they've hit them at least once. It is the same reason why sometimes enemy mobs follow you a very long distance, cast 1 spell, and run away - for some reason they don't cancel skill usage so they just blindly follow until the action is done, and then they run. Ofcourse maybe it got worse in this update, I can't really tell... Entropy Sig.jpg (T/C) 15:32, 19 February 2007 (CST)
Definitely worse. I was farming in The Enchanted Grove and even the monks were charging into battle from time to time. I'm scared to call targets now! Argel 22:16, 19 February 2007 (CST)
Really got to notify Anet then. Ghost1 22:25, 19 February 2007 (CST)
I agree with one point that I've experienced: heroes/hench "must" hit at least once their own target before "listening" to your orders.. :s — Corsaire Corsaire Signature.gif 03:08, 20 February 2007 (CST)
This has gotta be from ANet trying to prevent your heroes from canceling skills/wasting energy. I don't get why they can't make them not cancel spells/actions already started while stopping them from starting ones they haven't even started yet (like having to run to make the hit). I am sure they will fix it sometime though. --RabiesTurtle 04:41, 20 February 2007 (CST)
Try writing that in a fan forum, so it gets noticed :P — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o, 11:12, 20 February 2007 (CST)
Meh, I stopped posting on Guru. Too many idiots and flaming there. Even if you present answers to their questions/complaints in a cleanly structured method, many completely ignore it and keep repeating the same things. --RabiesTurtle 15:43, 20 February 2007 (CST)
Jeez, just try posting it on a fan forum, like Guru or something. —Aranth Mesmer 17:06, 20 February 2007 (CST)
Did you read the comment right before yours at all? Besides, someone surely will over there anyway. — RabiesTurtle 22:07, 20 February 2007 (CST)
I was making a joke, a little too subtly I guess. I figured referring specifically to Guru would make it obvious enough :p —Aranth Mesmer 15:42, 21 February 2007 (CST)
Well we're all very serious about our gaming, and besides, a joke isn't funny unless you have to explain it. Ghost1 17:13, 22 February 2007 (CST)

Hey, no worries. It went over my head because there are so many posts exactly like that were it someone didn't actually read. — RabiesTurtle (contribs) 17:28, 22 February 2007 (CST)

Feb 22 Updates[edit source]

There were two updates on the 22th, within a few minutes of each other. The two bugfixes could have been separate, or there could have been other effects as well. Anybody know more, or is what is written on the update page enough for our purposes? -- Quizer 15:18, 23 February 2007 (CST)

Most likely one of the two was the update for the Gamer Weekend. -- Elveh 16:45, 23 February 2007 (CST)

Missing Nahpui Quarter Chests[edit source]

It appears that all chests got removed from this mission. Did anyone else beside me and a friend notice that too? Was done recently (2-4 days ago ) since I often did that mission because of the chests. --Birchwooda Treehug 20:58, 24 February 2007 (CST)

Seems corrected after last (24th) update. --Birchwooda Treehug 12:04, 25 February 2007 (CST)

Feb 24th Update?[edit source]

Anyone know what was updated today? I noticed connection problems when transitioning between areas and was thinking that may be what was fixed. Argel 21:57, 24 February 2007 (CST)

Yeah - seen this update but would like to know what as changed. I dont like undocumented updates. --TigerWolf 22:08, 24 February 2007 (CST)
