"Arena Net supposedly provided Prima with information for it"[edit source]

Where did you get that from? Just wondering... -PanSola 09:36, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

For example have a look at the "foe stats" section in the "numbers & mechanics" appendix. That table has lots of information that is virtually impossible to find out with in-game methods. And since it is the "official" guide I assume that it was ANet who gave that info to Prima. --Fisherman's Friend 10:22, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
If it is the "Official" guide they got info from Anet (not necessarily all the info but at least some of it), if it is "Unofficial" then they had no help from Anet. Also remember that there have been many updates since the guide went in for printing (depending on Prima's printing capabilities, up to 4 months before it hit the streets it was finalized). --Rainith 12:07, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
I got the eGuide within the week it came out, back in June. Even someone who never touched the game can find blatant errors. Ie, internal inconsistencies or missing info. There have been no updates to even fix those problems. -PanSola 12:18, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Yes but even the eGuide has a "printing" time. Probably the same amount of time that the regular guide has. I would guess that the info in the guides comes from a late Beta, with changes made based on what their contact(s) in Anet said was going to change for the final release. --Rainith 12:56, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Well, what gripes me the most are the blatant errors. those have nothing to do with beta. -PanSola 13:07, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
That's what you get for paying a publisher for a guide. ;) is a wonderful resourse. --Rainith 13:19, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

I distinctly had the impression that Anet is not going to let Prima do the official Factions guide. Either I mis-remembered or they changed their mind. Tragic. -PanSola 13:10, 28 April 2006 (CDT)

Prima's Factions guide[edit source]

anyone heard anything about it? After the problems with the Prophecies guide, I'm definitely NOT buying the second one. But still interested in hearing about its general reputation. -PanSola 17:48, 9 May 2006 (CDT)

They had a number of copies at the local Gamestop. Next time I'm there, I'll leaf through it. Anything in particular you want me to look for? LordKestrel 20:00, 9 May 2006 (CDT)
Actually I jsut want to know if it is as bad as the Prophecies guide. Not sure if you can figure that out by leafing through it though. -PanSola 20:33, 9 May 2006 (CDT)

Nightfall[edit source]

So, speculation time. Did ANet just give up and decide to trust community documentation, or were sales of the guides leading up to this poor? Kessel 10:36, 11 October 2006 (CDT)
