Good idea Tetris ^^
- What's the application of this? I mean, since the effect is the same as<font color=cyan>[[test]]</font>, there must be a high relative occurance where we want colored links as opposed to just colored text right? - Blah, the template won't work on your dagger, and won't work on Tetris' bold font. Also, the linking bracket can be inside the font mark-up to avoid the piping link. And if it's just signatures, which are just used as includes anyways, there's not much point in making tempaltes that use them... - PanSola: This isn't just for signatures. It is for all kinds of collored links. The effect is not the same as <font color=cyan>[[test]]</font>! Try it. The link won't be colorized. It will use the standard link color: test --

- I was thinking about coloring the NPCs on the Isle of the Nameless red and green depending whether they are friend or foe. But then I realized that in a wiki red links mean empty pages, so I dropped the idea. I won't use the template in the near time. -- 13:56, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting. Is it technologically within the parameters of MediaWiki capabilities to change the color of empty links? I know web browsers can still override it, but the default color can be specified from server side I think... not sure (and then even if we can we still need to decide whether it's a good idea or not, but just wondering). -PanSola 16:00, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

useful application?[]
I was playing around a little with the template and actually managed to make it work as intended. So, wouldn't it be useful to replace all occurences of recurring colors (e.g. profession-specific colors) with this template, so we only have to change stuff in one place instead of all over the wiki if we ever want to change a profession color? --RolandOfGilead 12:59, 29 January 2007 (CST)

- I like this style template better than the ones currently discussed at GuildWiki_talk:Style_and_formatting/Profession_colors#Templates. - I wasn't even aware of that discussion, I just thought it would be a good idea :) If we keep the "color" name for the template, we could also extend it to non-profession colors, a kind of central repository for all standardized colors on the wiki. For example, but that may just be a little too redundant and ultimately pointless, the color of template:beastInfo and the various item-templates and whatever could all get their color info from this template. It would mean more templates to churn through for the server, but editing one template for color is easier than editing each individual template. --RolandOfGilead 13:23, 29 January 2007 (CST)
Documentation[]
I improved the documentation (once I figured out how this worked). I think it is very useful and have started using it on articles. I know there is still some discussion about how to use the new color templates. I hope it is okay if I continue to use this template. --Glynnis 17:01, 31 January 2007 (CST)
- FYI: Most articles are now using different color templates than this one. See: Template:W-color, Template:R-color, Template:Mo-color, Template:N-color, Template:Me-color, Template:E-color, Template:A-color, Template:Rt-color, Template:D-color, Template:P-color, and Template:X-color.
