Template talk:R

{{R}} {{r}} {{subst:R}} {{R|}} {{PAGENAME|}}
Ranger Ranger Ranger Ranger <nowiki>{{PAGENAME|}}</nowiki>
Some extra items for the table of confusion. Perhaps since "R|" works, there's a new builtin (like {{PAGENAME}}), but the template gets called when there's a pipe (like with the last column) or the case doesn't match? --68.142.14.2 03:20, 17 July 2006 (CDT)
Took me a while to puzzle it out, but it looks like R is being used to denote "raw". Using any variable (that outputs numbers, say {{NUMBEROFPAGES}}, using {{NUMBEROFPAGES:R}} outputs the number without the comma separators. So my hunch is simply an R is taken to mean (Nothing):R, which is why it returns blank. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 17:04, 17 July 2006 (CDT)
Is there a way to fix this except to rename the template in all articles? We've used the template all over the place! --Tetris L 03:14, 20 July 2006 (CDT)
I believe this would involve hacking into the MediaWiki code. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 04:44, 20 July 2006 (CDT)
Fortunately, according to What Links Here, there's only a little over a hundred pages that use the template. It shouldn't take that long if enough people fix it whenever they see it. Too bad there doesn't appear to be a way to get a case sensitive version of What Links Here in order to distinguish between {{r}} and {{R}}. -- Gordon Ecker 05:07, 22 July 2006 (CDT)
Is there any way to get What Links Here to list things alphabetically? If not I guess I'll have to do it all in one sitting next week. -- Gordon Ecker 20:10, 22 July 2006 (CDT)
I think I got most of them last night ST47 06:03, 23 July 2006 (CDT)
I checked through them and got the handful that were left. I also sorted some monster and boss lists while I was at it. All the existing instances of the ranger icon template outside of user and talk pages are fixed. -- Gordon Ecker 01:10, 25 July 2006 (CDT)
Odd, it appears that What Links Here isn't working properly. I've been running into pages that it missed. -- Gordon Ecker 22:40, 26 July 2006 (CDT)
Any examples? Or does it show up after the change? --68.142.14.19 23:09, 26 July 2006 (CDT)

This could be "fixed" by a minor change to a line in the English MW messages file, but Gravewit would have to do it. --Fyren 21:24, 6 October 2006 (CDT)

Not showing[edit source]

I'm having troubles with this template, it does not show the icon at all. That is, when used in a page, like {{R}} and with Firefox. If {{r}} is used instead, it seems to work.. Help?

See the above example. There is currently no workaround to get capital R to work. It'll involve a hack into MediaWiki code. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 20:07, 16 September 2006 (CDT)
Someone beat me to the quesiton, and PanSola beat him to an answer. :P Thanks, Pan. Though hacking might be good... :P --Armond Warblade Warrior(talk) 01:00, 25 November 2006 (CST)
