History of Yuri The Axe Devil

“Yuri The Axe Devil” or Yuri as he is called was born in Tyria in the summer to the late “Daggoth Ironember”. He, at an early age, gave up his Sir-name passed to him by his father, wanting to choose a name more fitting to his own liking. As a young child he was rather mischievous due to the fact that his father was not around much to give him proper instruction. What little his father taught him he would carry on to use for many years. Through his fathers instructions he quickly grasped the principles of combat and the understanding of strength and tactics. He was skilled with many weapons but he favored the axe as his weapon of choice thus earning him the name “Yuri The Axe Devil”.

Yuri was a rather adventurous type of lad but he had the warrior within him to back it up. His early adventuring consisted of hunting for bounty, mostly to help clear a new frontier in the rugged and untamed lands of kryta. These bounties earned him much acclaim and soon he was known by many. His father on the other hand did not approve of such fame and grandeur, for he himself had once been like his son. His father, unbeknown to all but a secret few, was an heir to “Lord Zerogin, Keeper of the Rock”, a high decorated combatant and closely trusted advisor to King Doric, the first king of Tyria.

At the time of the Exodus of the Gods from Tyria, the Bloodstones were created. Lord Zerogin was tasked by King Doric to guard the Bloodstones until death. Lord Zerogin was faithful in this task to the king for many years but it was his ultimate undoing. Lord Zerogin and his men guarding the Bloodstones were slowly being tainted by the magic that was locked away all those years ago. While they sat uncheck on the barren island guarding their own demise the rest of the world forgot them. Finally came the day when the “Keeper of the Rock” had had enough. In a vain attempt to steal the power sealed within the Bloodstones Lord Zerogin tried to split them asunder. The result was the massive eruption on the Ring of Fire Islands that sent the sections of the Bloodstone all over Tyria. Lord Zerogin was hailed a traitor by the king, banished, and later sentenced to death if ever to set foot in the land of the free peoples of Tyria. For failing the gods, Lord Zerogin was cursed. All his line would die young.

This is what Yuri’s father feared people would find out if he gained too much fame. He told Yuri of his family’s dark past but Yuri seemed unfazed at the time. He would set things right for his family one day, but he needed time. Soon after, the Charr, from lands to the north began a massive invasion. The Charr summoned power magic’s to bring down The Great Northern Wall which had kept them at bay for so long. The kingdom Ascalon fell before the masses of the Charr and in the heat of battle defending Ascalon is where Daggoth Ironember fell. It was at this point that Yuri The Axe Devil decided to set things right with his family’s past and with the tattered kingdoms of Tyria. After The Searing he began his current crusade for justice and revenge, but little did he know that the same Gods who had cursed his family, would give him the chance prove his worth and redeem his right.
