Equipment[ | ]

Monk/Mesmer

  • Any 15 AL armor with Protection headpiece
  • A Weapon with Enchantments Last 20% longer

Monk/any

  • Any Armor as long as it 60AL
  • A Weapon with Enchantments Last 20% longer

Usage[ | ]

The team begins by applying all their enchantments, with the bonding monk switching between Divine and Smiting headpieces for the maintained enchantments. Watchful Spirit should be one of the last (except for possibly Holy Wrath, which may need to be removed and reapplied periodically) maintained enchantments applied to provide a cover for the other maintained enchantments, with added healing as an extra benefit.

Once the tanking monk has full energy, and the bonding monk atleast 15, the bonder will cast Shield of Judgment on the tanking monk, and the tank will also apply his enchantments on top to protect himself as well as cover Shield of Judgement.

  • Note: Extra effort should be taken to cover Shield of Judgement, as it's long recharge and energy situation of the bonding monk make it a pain in the arse to have to reapply. Much more effort than a simple reapplication of Protective Spirit or Spirit Bond.

Zealous Benediction is included in tanking monk build for those ZOMG moments. This is also helpful to make up for life drain through hexes you may encounter. The bonding monk, while making staying out of aggro his top priority, should also come and help out with healing the tanking monk using Signet of Devotion, which will net around 152 additional health.

In the case of Bosses, the bonding monk should come and help with wanding them to death once the area is clear of other enemies.

Counters[ | ]

  • Priest of Sorrows and Dolyak Masters can make clearing a group slow, if not impossible. They're attack rate is too slow (if sometimes at all) to receive much damage. Wroth Yakslapper usually has to be bypassed.
  • Aggroing a group of more than 2 Mesmers will usually result in death for the tanking monk, due to repeated and rapid enchantment removal, interrupts, and energy denial.

Variants[ | ]

To make this go smoother, it might be useful to take some variety of Nuker or a Me/E Fast Casting nuker with Backfire or some other icky mesmer junk.

Notes[ | ]

  • This build is still under a great deal of development. So far, the build is dependant on certain spawns and conditions to work effectively.
  • This build was designed for questless Sorrow's Furnace farming, as it is difficult (if not impossible) to ensure the well being of various NPCs, such as Orozar.
  • Additional help and suggestions are welcome.
