I started monitoring the recently uploaded images page about 2 months ago and have noticed that you've uploaded many images(ones that are not pointless). Thanks for helping expand GuildWiki. Previously Core skins..

Well, I'm getting rather irate about it. Those skins belong to GW:EN now and given the description of the box: these sword types can be found in Guild Wars and then the campaigns, if it can be found there it can be put there and removing it so it's just under core from the hoh chest where the vast majority would not be able to obtain it is just denial of information ffs. Technically, you could put nearly every single skin from every single campaign in core if the reason that it's available from the HoH chest is used to remove it from another list because that's just what the chest drops.

Oh, so very /signed!  :) Anything that says "Core" should mean you can get it in PvE in all chapters. If I know something is available as a HoH drop, a note in the Acquisition field makes more sense than calling it core. You could say the Arcane Staff is core, but they don't drop from mobs or chests anywhere but GWEN. And yes, thank you for working on the weapon pages! I'm a wiki newb and trying to help out, but I'd never have bothered it this wasn't already such a great resource in the first place. Cheers! --LicensedLuny 14:18, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

new images

If you upload a newer image, just replace the old one rather than upload a whole new image. For Johon's Longbow, there was already an image but you have uploaded an entirely new one. This means that the old image would have to be deleted or waste space and that there is no way to view the image history. In some cases the older image is better or whatnot and there is no history of the images to see. Try to only upload entirely new images if the original was misnamed or there is a new file extension. Also, if you make an image for deletion because it was replaced, when you put a reason for deletion, link to the new image. This way admins can easily see what the new one is to compare. {{delete|replaced with [[:Image:Johons Longbow.jpg]]}} in that case. —♥Jedi♥Rogue♥ 17:25, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Um I don't believe I wiped anything O_o Can you list at least one example? The only section I touched was Domination Magic, and before I touched it, it had NO GW:EN items whatsoever; after I touched it, I believe everything in Proph, Fac, and Nightfall are complete. PS: saw the pic you did for spirit of the forgotten - seems like you need to turn your gfx settings up a bit (where art thou ANTI-ALIASING? D:!) and a suggestion is to run the -bmp switch if you're taking shots for items. It might say GWs jpg doesn't affect quality a lot but from personal experience (and tons of pics that could have been done better), it does >.< Jennalee 03:21, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

About Photoshop... I can't seem to figure it out but the images it saves are slightly green compared to the ones I save with the program I've nearly always had and normally - and this is with default colorspace or whatever it's called. Oh! I just thought of something. For that tricky one, Turquoise Staff, would it be easier if two people did it? One person to hold it, the other to screenshot it? On consideration, your volley of cyanide would do nothing as cyanide is not known as a contact poison but rather one you have to consume to recieve fatal tasty-ness. Australian Guild

I was once in an Australian guild, they where fun people even though it was small. It introduced me to factions and was my first kurzick guild. Many of them knew each other personally. Bah, edit conflicts! Well, we like to stick together from my personal experience but they don't have problems playing with people from elsewhere as long as they're not like, stuck up or obnoxious. However, Australian gamers tend to make up only a small proportion of the GWs population so there aren't all that many huge all-Australian alliances etc. and it's probably this which contributes to what you're seeing. It's not as though the groups were organised from the start to game together - usually it's a buncha friends who happen to know each other IRL and became interested in GWs together so end up playing together, or you just happen to bump into a few people who are Australian and some to play with them. Well just got back after riding my Kangaroo to the shops to get some Vegemite. Really, so many people think we ride Roos around it's funny. As to the original post, I think tme zones have alot to do with it aswell. I personally live in Western Australia, and usually whenever I am on Europe is still asleep or America is going to sleep (apart from the stragglers). Though having an Australian Guild you could be on at around the same time, and form parties for missions or Alliance Battle and such. Picture Quality

Hey Jennalee, seeing as you are the picture guru, I was just letting you know that I've uploaded Dye colour scheme various BMP weapons (Togo's Staff, Mursaat Staff, Charr Staff, Tengu Staff, Tengu Scepter and Undead Staff). Anyway the pictures originally were of decent quality, but after compressing them to a smaller size they became, well, smelly.

So I was just wondering whether you want me to redo them? I still have the originals, and I've re-uploaded the Tengu Scepter and Mursaat Staff purely because they were the worst.Khazad Guard 08:17, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Okay thanks for the tips, will do that next time. I was just using the default settings for screenshots, but I'll use the BMP command line from now on. Also I usually play with everything on lowest setting, except I play with Texture (I think) on high (purely because lag owns me), but when I take screenshot it seems that GW automatically goes to the highest quality (without stupid Post Effects)anyway. I normally play with lowest settings too because this computer is slow but it doesn't really help much with 2 minute + loading times in outposts with loads of people (which helps to explain why I like inter districts). Taking some greens off your hands

To clarify, most have been sold already and I'm currently working mostly off KartMan's collection now rather than buying my own. The ones which are left tend to be some cruddy Mesmer greens and some Ele ones. Disappointing. I'm not lauding his actions (GW:1RV) but you really came off as...arrogant in your replies. Even when you disagree with someone, at least try to show them respect, and remember to assume good faith.

Myself and Viper were getting rather aggravated as there were two pics of the Bows, one for each skin and he kept uploading at first, over the wrong bow then later, over the other picture that was well lit than in some dark, grey area (Raven's first pic) despite the request NOT to do so on their talk page which was ignored until I asked to take a better picture that wasn't so dark and grey. Only then did they post the other pic which they themselves later reverted. Let's just say, I don't readily respect people who won't take hints and discuss the issue with people who don't agree, then proceed to say thing such as "I just figured I would contribute a pic of the Recurve because NO one had." as a seeming excuse when there was a pre-existing picture uploaded by User:Zen Master some time before. I also find it hard to AGF when said anons appear some time later, targeting only the people who didn't agree with them. Jennalee 12:32, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Forcing people to the discussion table defeats the purpose, is all I'm saying. If you truly value majority opinion and consensus as a way to resolve disputes, then endorse those principles in your own actions as well. Remember that a few users can never reflect the general opinion of the Wiki, anyways - who are you to say arbitrarily what is right and wrong when it comes to images? Personally, I think his image is better, for exactly the reasons he himself stated. "I just figured I would contribute a pic of the Recurve because NO one had." - This may be factually incorrect, but I fail to see how it is actually relevant. Finally, I believe that the user was only legitimately trying to help, not harm, the Wiki, and as such you and Viper and the others took the wrong track when trying to show him the error of his ways. (Primarily GW:1RV)

The anon cannot conclusively be linked to the user. It's not out of the realm of probability, but I wouldn't go assuming that just because they happen to be discussing the same issue that they are the same person. How far back in the log did you look? The Raven uploaded two pictures, the first one was the one we were not really happy about, the second which you seem to be referring to none of us had much of an issue with. It just seemed to me this user wanted to put a picture up irregardless of whether it was any better and didn't take any pains to ensure it was so. Well, I can't ban The Raven for that, even though it seems likely now. Obviously, if I did, he would claim he's not the anon. And I don't have the resources to check things like that.

Crop tool or select tool, whichever your chosen graphics editor has available (crop should be easier), highlight a box around desired object, crop/copy and paste, save as a jpg at whatever quality you choose (recommend highish) Jennalee 13:42, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Actually it's possible. The entire DoA has been done in HM in under 2:30hrs. Of course I wouldn't want to do it in HM but with a paragon spewing "Save Yourselves" and "There's nothing to fear" then I believe we can do it. --Blue.rellik 06:34, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
