Nested tables[edit source]

There's nothing wrong with Curse. You were just missing a bunch of </div> tags. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 22:28, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, you're a step ahead of me, I noticed they were missing but was still trying to find where to add them. Curse probably shouldn't let our frames mess up the entire page though. --Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 22:38, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
No, they should, because then it makes you practice good coding. :P —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 22:45, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Haha yes it does, but its not good coding to rely on the clients' good coding. ;P --Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 23:11, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Offering help.[edit source]

I'd be glad to help you on some of those normal mode missions. :-) Ariyen 23:49, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

That would be great. =) There aren't a lot of normal mode ones left but I've been playing them based on which ZMissions I have. Contact me in game when you get a chance. --Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 00:00, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

character template[edit source]

Would it be possible for you to fix User:Kirbman/CharacterTemplate with something like #ifexist character image | display it | link to Special upload with Destfile= ? Alternately, you could allow me to do it. The reason is that some people use your template and don't have images uploaded, and this seems to be the most thorough way to keep them from appearing on Special:WantedFiles. --◄mendel► 15:37, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Does that actually work, though? I thought #ifexist still caused entries to appear in all the various "Wanted" special pages. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 15:41, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Okay, it won't show up on WantedFiles, but it will still show up on WantedPages. Is that acceptable? What about when we finally decide to clean that list up, too? —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 15:46, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
*sigh* GWW uses a template which acts like #ifexists, but that uses DPL in the innards to figure out if the file exists. Which we can't do. *le sigh* --JonTheMon 16:48, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
The link to where the image should be makes it much easier for them to upload the image to the right place too. You guys have to remember that not everyone is good with wikis as you. Is there a way you could tell the WantedFiles/WantedPages not to include the user space? --Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 19:51, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Mendel's suggestion was to replace the standard wiki-generated redlink (which generates entries in both WantedPages and WantedFiles) with a function-generated redlink (same URL as the standard redlink, but doesn't generate an entry in Wanted Files (still generates a WantedPages entry due to the #ifexist:, however)). Use CSS to make it look like a normal redlink, and the reader wouldn't know the difference.
I can't find anything in MW's configuration that affects which namespaces Special: pages include in their results. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 20:19, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Yes, that's what I meant. The redlink for the image is an URL we can generate ourselves, and you can just make the link text red. That's a good point about Special:WantedPages, files do show up on that list when they're linked to. It's not as simple as I thought. :( --◄mendel► 21:50, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
OK, well if you think it would be helpful and wouldn't change the appearance or functionality, you're welcome to add it. One of the people with some of the missing images is a good friend of mine, so I'll see if I can get him to upload images for his characters, then at least the number of wanted files will be reduced. --Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 21:55, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Another change that would be helpful and easier might be to allow for an image= parameter; it allows me to insert image=image missing.svg on the character page, and that saves me the redirect, too. Again, I can do that for you if you'd like. --◄mendel► 09:58, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
It would still send them to the same place if they click on the image right? --Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 19:56, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
No, it wouldn't. It would mean that if the automatic name isn't linked, I can add the code quoted above, and when they do decide to upload an image later, they'd have to edit their page and either delete the parameter (undo my edit) or change the image name to get a redlink for uploading (or upload first and then change the name, of course). If somebody uses the template to create a new character description, everything will work as before.
One possible modification that would do this would be to change
As you can see, if the image parameter is not specified, everything would work as before. --◄mendel► 22:14, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
All of the red linked images have been there for a while, so I finally sacrificed their uploading convenience to get rid of those red links. I'm moving all of the current uses of the character template to point to an archive of the current version so I can make major changes to the template without messing up it's existing users. --Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 02:57, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

As the other header I did today didnt make any sense what so ever, I hope to make more impression with this one. Or, as is more likely, embarras myself more than anything. Yes, that is far more likely[edit source]

But, that is not of your consern. It's your BIRTHDAY!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 10:12, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Arnout! --Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 22:29, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
A belated happy birthday to the other wiki member who shares my same birthday :P -- Isk8.png Isk8 (T/C) 11:24, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Aloha![edit source]

Mahalo for helping with the vanquisher schedule! But just an fyi, there's 4 steps to filling it out completely :) You obviously know about the Forecast/vanquish template, and creating the Zaishen Quest page for the vanquishable area in question, but you also need to add the {{Zaishen_Quest}} tag to the vanquishable area as well, and then add in the info to the Zaishen/Vanquish schedule page. Just a friendly fyi :) Aloha, and mahalo! Mauirixxx 17:47, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Thank Kormir that we are nearing the end of the list of VQable areas.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:56, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
We are? ... I wasn't sure on that. Ariyen 19:32, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Not really, there's still about 50 more to go. Anyway Mauirixxx, I noticed the schedule a while back and updated it once. I found it to be a minor pain to update though, and didn't see much point (it looks like something that could be automated), so I left it for others to update and I've just been sticking with updating the template and creating the quest page (aside from the German translation which I also leave to someone who knows German). I'll try to add in the {{Zaishen_Quest}} tag from now on though. --Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 22:26, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
You can do the German link easy by copying the link from an existing ZVanq (I assume you're already doing this for the rest of the article, so that should be no trouble), then lookup the de: link on the area's page to get the German area name. Format is: [[de:<area name> (Zaishen-Bezwingung)]]. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 22:36, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
It's not really a pain, at least I didn't think so :P It's actually my starting point whenever I add a vanquish to the schedule (it's also the page I save last). I don't think it could be automated, and thinking about it, nor can the template (don't quote me on that) as the schedule page pulls the date data from the template. It's a chicken and egg scenario :) In any case, thanks for helping keep the wiki current. I even learned something new today (how to properly add german translation pages) - thanks Ishmael :) Mauirixxx 00:51, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
Actually, it could be "automated" by simply adding all the areas to the list right now. The problem with that solution is that all the areas that haven't come up yet will show a giant red Error: Invalid time message in the last column. And there's no easy way to fix that (it would require some serious mucking around in the template code). So either we live with a bunch of big red errors, or we continue as we have been with adding each area as it comes up.
Also, we don't know what tier each area will be (although you could probably make a good guess), so that would have to manually entered in any case. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 03:05, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

"buggy" upload[edit source]

Your first upload was fine. Did you do a force-refresh of your browser's cache? —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 13:08, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

Haha I'm really surprised you noticed that. But ya I force refreshed it about 30 times and tried it on another computer several hours later and it was still showing as the old one. Anyway, its fine now, although it doesn't show well at all on its background on the miniature page. I noticed some of those icons have shadows and some don't but I don't know why. --Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 03:22, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Someone edited them to make them darker. Personally I don't think we should alter the icons themselves at all, but consensus overruled that. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 05:21, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Howdy[edit source]

I left a msg on another wiki. Just send me an ign msg (Aribeth Tylmaran) or an email (if you have it. :-S ) Ariyen 19:11, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Alright, I was actually in the middle of replying to that message when I got distracted and wound up here... --Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 23:21, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
Haha, sent a huge reply back. 01:06, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
