Congrats Pardner[edit source]

Congratulations on the admin title dude. Well deserved. :) --Karlos 20:08, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

In keeping with our standing tradition, once a user is admin, he disappears. :) --Karlos 08:06, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
I'm not dead yet. :) Just a little more busy this week, at work (damn people taking vacations) and at home with prepping for stuff I have to do this holiday weekend. Also as far as I can tell, I'm not an Admin yet, I don't see the option to go ban people and do reverts. --Rainith 12:03, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

Congrats Rain ^^ — Skuld 12:14, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. :) --Rainith 12:18, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

I dub thee Admin. You rock. Gravewit 12:50, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

WooHoo! --Rainith 13:01, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

Grats! I would make a few celebration articles, but now that you are admin, you can go and read those I made for Karlos (which later where deleted), hehe. --Xeeron 17:38, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

Merchant List[edit source]

Rainith, your User:Rainith/Test page looks like you're working on some kind of merchant list. Are you? If yes, then we should work together, because I've got the list almost ready and had planed to add it to the merchant article shortly. --Tetris L 03:44, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

Something similar to that. I planned to create modules (Merchant/Pre-Searing, Merchant/Ascalon, Merchant/Northern Shiverpeaks, etc...), and then create articles for each of the merchants. I figured if someone wanted a grand list they could use the modules for that. You want to work together on something like that? Right now I'm taking pics of all the pre-searing merchants, then I need to get them post searing as they're all duplicated (and if Arnaud is any indcation they look different). --Rainith 03:50, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
I like your idea of using modules. There is one minor problem about it though: Some merchants don't fit into the scheme for their region:
  • Arnaud and Laren in Ascalon City (Bags/BeltPouches instead of RoH, Starter Weapon, ...)
  • Gelsan the Outfitter in Regent Valley (no ESK, RoH, Key)
  • Hakon in Beacon's Perch (Keys, Ale)
  • Hashrah in the Temple of the Ages (Keys)
  • Bodrus the Outfitter in Lion's Arch (Bag instead of RoH)
I don't think we need a screenshot for each merchant. It's nice to have, but nobody really cares about their look. --Tetris L 04:12, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
I knew there were going to be a few that did not fit in with the modules, but the vast majority of the merchants in each region have the same stuff. I was just going to manually do it for the ones that didn't fit. If you're going to have a merchant list (I think you mentioned that, I'm really tired right now), then maybe for the ones that don't fit we should do "Name/Merchant" modules? What do you think?
I put a request in for someone to make a Platinum image similar to Gold for Gold. Some of the stuff near the end of the game costs 1 plat or more, and it would be nice if we could match the way the game formats with icons. (i.e. list it as 2 {plat icon}, 0 Gold which is I think how it lists it in the game.)
I'm probably not going to be on a lot the next 2 days (Thanksgiving here in the States) and I'm probably going to go to bed soon, so I might not get back to you quickly on anything. :(
As for the pics, if we're going to have NPC articles for these folks, I'm going to do it right dammit. The collectors were a pain too, seems I didn't learn my lesson. ;) --Rainith 04:22, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
I will go ahead and create some stuff. You can review it when you're back from your extended turkey feast. ;) --Tetris L 06:07, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

ToC Box floated right[edit source]

Heya Rainith. You're the only other admin on right now, so I'm seeking your opinion. I adjusted the site's CSS to float Table of Contents boxes to the right, instead of having them inline. People had been using div tags to get this behavior, so I thought it'd be best to do it properly. Is the effect a good one, or should I change it back (and start deleting formatting divs)? —Tanaric 04:11, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

It doesn't work too well on the pages that have "boxes" on them that are on the right side (like the bestiary: Hulking Stone Elemental). But I just don't know, I like them on the right on some pages, pages with lots of text. On other pages that don't have a whole lot of text, I think it works better on the left. Any page that has text before any sections, I think it looks better on the right.
That probably doesn't answer your question too well, but I think in general it is better to leave it on the left and let people 'force' it to the right side if they want on a specific page. --Rainith 04:17, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Reverted. I think it's probably bad design to hack formatting on individual pages for no good reason. I'll look around the style and formatting pages and start an argument about it. :) —Tanaric 04:24, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Here's an example of a page that I think would benefit from a right-aligned TOC: Academy training quests. The way it is now, the TOC is after a half-dozen lines of text, if the TOC was on the right, the TOC would not interrupt the text. This is (IMO) one of the benefits of being able to change the TOC's location on pages. But in all honesty I don't think I've ever bothered to move it on any page. --Rainith 04:32, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Could make template:righttoc containing "<div style="float:right;">__TOC__</div>" and use it instead of just __TOC__ where we want. --Fyren 05:11, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
True; it's very easy to move the ToC box over. I'm thinking we just shouldn't do it. It means the user has to look in a different place on every page for the ToC. If an individual user wishes to move the ToC box, he can do it via his User CSS page (I've got mine that way). —Tanaric 15:56, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Recent Blocks[edit source]

I was looking at the recent changes, and noticed that you had updated User talk: to say that Gravewit had banned him. But the recent block log shows that Gravewit actually blocked User: . I think he accidentally dropped the leading "1" from the IP address. I wasn't sure to mention this in his talk or yours, but figured if I flagged it to at least one of you, it could be looked at. --Barek 14:32, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

You're right. I blocked just now. Thanks for catching that. --Rainith 14:51, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

Bleh[edit source]

Bleh. Not sure what to do about this:]. Dunno if the links should just be killed or sent somewhere else. --Fyren 20:04, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

Ah dammit! I fixed all most of that crap the first time I deleted those pages (before the crash). I'll clean it up. So tired today I forgot about it, sorry. --Rainith 21:13, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
Ok, the only one that I didn't fix was User:Jazim/test, because the whole frickin' page was links to [Armor collectors]. And I don't want to put a delete tag on another user's test page, even if they haven't made any edits in a long time. (That might be a perfectly acceptable thing to do, I just don't feel comfortable doing it without there being something like spam/p*rn/etc... on the page). --Rainith 22:32, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

Hey, if you guys have any time I would really appreciate people starting on the Droknar's Forge (Wintersday 2005) page. I can't belive how damn time consuming it is filling in all this npc info. >-< --The King Tarosian 21:16, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm so tired right now, I'm only going to make another couple edits tonight. I might be able to work on that tomorrow. I know it is a tonne of work, keep up the good work. :)
And would you make a freakin' user page? :P You're number 2 last time I checked on Special:Wantedpages. --Rainith 22:32, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
LOL! It feels good to be wanted! Even if I am 2nd best on the wanted pages ;). Haha. I'll work on my page as soon as I feel comfortable with the info we have on the christmas update.--The King Tarosian 23:27, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

Home Page Build Request[edit source]

Do you think it is possible to include a link to a build page that has links to all the differnt build categories from the main page? There are farming and pvp builds increasing and I'm working on one right now and I plan on working on more too. --DragonWR12LB 13:34, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

I think it would be a good idea to add a link to [:Category:Builds] from the main page. You can submit ideas for improvements to the main page by going to this page (that is also linked to at the bottom of the main page). If you want, make a change there, otherwise I'll put a change in there in a little while, 'cause like I said, I think its a good idea (I'm surprised it wasn't done already). Generally even admins don't make changes without submitting them there. --Rainith 13:46, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks --DragonWR12LB 14:17, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
No problem. I should have mentioned that to make a link to a category, as opposed to putting a page in a category you do it like this: <nowiki>[:Category:Builds]</nowiki>. With a : (colon) before the word category. I cleaned it up on the editcopy page. :) --Rainith 14:34, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Add more details?[edit source]

I was thinking of adding the attribute of each boss on the main "green weap" guide page. (Ex.: Rago, pyromancer or Shadestone, blood) Would it clutter, help, or be utterly useless because ppl could already click directly on each weap and boss? COMMENTS PLEASE>

All that info should be on the individual item's page. The Unique items list is just that, a list of the items. The only extra information that is on there is the type of item if that wasn't made obvious by the item's name (i.e. Forgerunner (Long Bow), or Willcrusher (Staff)). Adding the attribute to the list would just clutter it up IMO, but if you believe that it would be a good idea, post that in Talk:Unique items list and see what others think. --Rainith 20:23, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Good point.
