To whom it may concern[edit source]

Disclaimer: I really don't know where to put this. I want to explain something to the community rather than adress Karlos himself, so it seems misplaced on Karlos' talk page. But this matter concerns Karlos more than anyone else, and I want him to know, so I decided to post it here instead of "going cheerleading" on my own talk page or some other page.

Anybody who has been following the discussion for a while knows that me and Karlos have got issues. We've tried to get along, but it doesn't seem to work out. In the end it came down to a "either you or me" decision, and I made room. Then it was Karlos who "left" (for reasons that have nothing to do with me), so I came back. Now he is back again, and I gotta decide again if I go back into hibernation.

I made up my mind, and decided that I won't abandon this wiki easily. I care about it, I have put countless hours of work into it, and except for the fights with Karlos, I enjoy contributing here. I'm not willing to let one person spoil all that for me.

Karlos has threatened repeatedly to ask for me to be banned for offending him. Despite that threat, I am not going to treat him with kid gloves. In the past I tried to be as moderate as I could be while still saying what I felt had to be said. In future I'll try to avoid personal discussion with Karlos as much as possible, but if I absolutely must, I'll make my point clear, maybe even clearer than in the past. If Karlos feels that my criticism of his actions is personal offense and if he feels that I should be banned for it and appeals to the community or the admins, then so be it. Like I already said before: If the community (i.e. a majority of admins and contributors) thinks that I'm a troublemaker and that I deserve a ban, I will accept that and leave for good.

I'm still trying to think of a way that allows me and Karlos to come to a cease-fire agreement. Unfortunatly there is no "ignore" feature included with WikiMedia. ;) You can't be part of a wiki without participating in discussions. I could try to stay out of heated discussions with Karlos, but repeated reverts would probably force me back in. I don't know what's going to happen in case of another dispute in future. Hopefully somebody will step in as the voice of reason and concilate. --Tetris L 05:32, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

This belongs on your talk page, not mine. You imposed that "it's either me or you" rule, you applied it, you broke it. I don't care one way or the other. But, since it is you telling the community that you are back, then it either belongs on your talk page, or the community portal or something.
As for your decision to come back, I never thought you should leave. Never could comprehend your "ultimatium." Now that you are back, I will ask the other admins to evaluate your behavior. --Karlos 05:46, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
I don't mind to have this discussion here (or somewhere else) instead of your talk page, as long as you're aware of it. I put it on your talk page mostly to avoid the impression that I slander about you behind your back. If you prefer it here, fine for me.
I welcome your intention to "get [my] behaviour evaluated" (nice euphemism for "get banned" :)). It was gonna happen sooner or later anyway, so we might as well get this out of the way quickly. --Tetris L 06:23, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Users are only banned when they harm the wiki. You have not done so. That said, I think that, at least recently, you've been acting a little childishly. Not a big deal. My advice is this: the less you bring up the "I don't like Karlos" thing, the less often the rest of us have to deal with you bickering.
If I noticed Karlos needlessly fanning the flames, I'll make the same point on his talk page. I've tried to stay out of these sorts of thing, but I'm willing to involve myself now, as I'd like you both to continue contributing. —Tanaric 17:05, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Makenx[edit source]

Thanks for you message. I am revisiting my ealier entries and changing the format to a unified one. It takes a while to get use to the system. =)--Makenx 05:00, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

No problem at all. We were all wiki newbies at one point. You'll get used to it quickly. :) --Tetris L 05:11, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

Chapter 2 skills[edit source]

Hi Tetris L, I am trying to help out with this aspect, but I notice you are setting up the categories. I just went through and added the numbers for 0 and 12 critical strikes; here's the info you might want if you need it (http://www.gwonline.net/page.php?p=179) - gwonline has the 0/12 info up for assassins; maybe ths evening I'll have time to do some progressions to help out. --Epinephrine 13:09, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Skale rewrite[edit source]

Thanks for fixing that article. It was pretty bad, but I'm such a noob when it comes to Wiki formatting, that I hoped by just making a small change it'd get noticed by someone with some skill, and cleaned up. LordKestrel 22:03, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Skill box vote[edit source]

here. As someone who was going to work on a landscape skill box, I figure you might be interested in voting... -PanSola 21:52, 18 February 2006 (CST)

Thanks for the heads-up! --Tetris L 13:25, 19 February 2006 (CST)

NPC - Style and formatting[edit source]

Now that you're (almost) done with your NPC crusade, would you write something up and put it here to ensure that the rest of us can keep new entries in sync with what you've done? It doesn't have to be perfect, but something a little more than the one sentance that is there would be helpful, and something that someone else (me probably as I intend to try to flesh out these style and formatting pages a little more soon) can build on. Thanks. --Rainith 02:15, 24 February 2006 (CST)

Will do. :) --Tetris L 13:37, 24 February 2006 (CST)

Maps[edit source]

What font did you use for the boss location numbers on the maps you made a while back? I found another boss location in the Eastern Frontier and would like to add it, but I don't want to go through all the fonts in Photoshop and try to match it to yours.  :) --Rainith 13:00, 26 February 2006 (CST)

Arial, plain and simple, iirc.
Add the boss yourself or describe where it is and I'll do it. The map project as a whole is on extended hold, and I'm not going to start any new ones in the near time. But I don't mind making minor changes to the old ones. --Tetris L 13:27, 26 February 2006 (CST)
I'll let you do it so it matches better. East side, little less than half way up, east of "Dev" and south of "Moa" see attached image: [Image removed]
--Rainith 13:32, 26 February 2006 (CST)
The font you used seems to be matching just fine. No need to do it again for me. --Tetris L 13:53, 26 February 2006 (CST)
I'll try it again with Arial, that was Courier New that I used, that is a fixed width font, so the spacing is off from Arial's variable width. --Rainith 13:58, 26 February 2006 (CST)

On User:Warban[edit source]

Dunno if you noticed this yet, but you should probably move that comment to his talk page from his user page. — Stabber 19:42, 28 February 2006 (CST)

Oooops! Consider it done. --Tetris L 19:47, 28 February 2006 (CST)

On Storyline storyline(ch1) (minor issue)[edit source]

I Seem to have created a small issue with the talk page for http://www.gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Storyline%28Ch1%29 After moving the Discussion it now opens into edit instead of view. I cannot seem to fix this :S

Not for me. Everything seems to be fine. Purge your browser cache, maybe. --Tetris L 20:01, 2 March 2006 (CST)

Need some advice[edit source]

I wanted to create a new category for stubs - something for combat related stuff - but adding the 'combat-' in the stub tag only created a template page. How can I create a new stub category?

A few pages gave me an error 'The document contains no data' when I tried to save changes or preview them.

  • Fissure Necromancer Armor
  • Necrotic Armor
  • Necrotic Armor (15k)

The last edits are all from the same IP adress. I hope this can be fixed. I checked other pages edited by the same IP, but they worked fine. --Gem 21:03, 7 March 2006 (CST)

The category is coded into the stub template. To create a stub category for combat related stuff you must first create a template for it. For example, have a look at Template:item-stub and hit "Edit" to see the code behind it. Create a new template Template:combat-stub, copy-paste the code from Template:item-stub and modify it to replace everything related to "item" with "combat". That should do the job.
As for the second question: I don't know what exactly the problem is. I've never experienced that error. Sorry, can't help here. --Tetris L 21:27, 7 March 2006 (CST)
Thank you very much! Who should I ask for the problem with the armor pages? --Gem 21:36, 7 March 2006 (CST)
Post it on any talk page that is remotely related, for example Talk:Armor types or GuildWiki:User questions. All the experienced regular contributors check the recent changes page. I'm sure your question won't be missed and somebody will be able to answer. --Tetris L 22:21, 7 March 2006 (CST)
Umm... I can't understand how I have missed the User questions page for so long. It seems you can always learn new things. Thank you! --Gem 00:43, 8 March 2006 (CST)
Actually, I find it too well hidden. You pretty much have to know where it is to find it. I had to go through the Community Portal myself to look up the link. --Tetris L 00:50, 8 March 2006 (CST)

Skill Animation icons[edit source]

Do you mind if I add to those? - Evil_Greven 14:31, 8 March 2006 (CST)

No, not at all. I try to keep mine 90px in height, to have a bit of a uniform standard. Check User:Tetris L/Skill Animation for a "to do list". --Tetris L 15:16, 8 March 2006 (CST)

Boss categories?[edit source]

I hope I don't come off sounding like a spoilsport, but I don't get this. What possible use could anyone have of all those boss-categories, where many will contain maybe 1 or 2 articles? I always figured categories were for making things more easily findable, but I can't seem to see how this will do that. Can you explain? --Bishop 22:28, 9 March 2006 (CST)

Are you questioning the bureaucracy? If so, you should restate your question using form 21-A, supplement XI, and file it with the desk clerk between the hours of 3:00 and 4:00 am on a Wednesday. Don't forget the filing fees of $0.23 (our machine only accepts dimes and nickels). Have a nice day! — Stabber 22:36, 9 March 2006 (CST)
Right, well, uh, I withdraw the question. I think I have some paperwork to do. --Bishop 22:41, 9 March 2006 (CST)
Bishop:Good question, that applies to all kinds of categories, not just boss categories.
The key question is: What are categories supposed to achieve? Are they for searching? Are they for cataloging?
Previously you had a list of almost 400 bosses, without subcategories. What is that list good for? If you're looking for a boss and you know the name, you'd be better off doing a search. If you do not know the name, the list doesn't help a bit. But even if you do not know the name you'll probably remember the profession, the species or the location. Now the category tree will make it much easier for you to search.
Lets see how Wikipedia handle this. (I know, I know, their policies are not automatically our policies.) Featured on their Main Page today is Wikipedia:Milan Babić. He is categorized under "Croatian politicians". That is a sub-category of "Croatian people by occupation" and "Politicians of European nations". This way you can search through the categories by multiple ways. I think this is a good way to handle it.
Anyway ... I suggested the subcategories in Category talk:Bosses. That would be a good place to discuss the matter, if you disagree with the change. --Tetris L 23:16, 9 March 2006 (CST)

Category Discussion[edit source]

On User talk:Stabber#"Core" category crusade, — Stabber said: Tetris, have you finished writing your grand polemic yet? — Stabber 12:49, 11 March 2006 (CST)

So yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Since the information is now available through the game, I think it's important that we integrate it into the Wiki ASAP. Evan The Cursed (Talk) 03:57, 13 March 2006 (CST)

Suggestion, sort of[edit source]

I noticed in a certain talk page, which I am deliberately leaving unlinked, you wrote (a long time ago) that the problem with redirects is that they can't be categorized. Is there any issue with creating a page for that term such as "Synonym. See: [link to other page] <category tag>"? Or is it done and I haven't seen it? :) It seems like it would solve your problem with synonym-things, especially in slang/for definitions, and the fact that auto-redirects don't categorize... assuming that that's a problem on more than one definition page. 'Course, it wouldn't be automatic, but then you would have both terms look-uppable. Which would be a good thing. Seems like it would have also averted an argument, haha. Anyway. Just thought I'd mention it. --Tinarto 15:04, 10 April 2006 (CDT)

I'm not sure what the original discussion was about but I'm guessing that it is probably old as we discovered that redirects can be categorized. simply put the category after the redirect on the same line:
#REDIRECT [[Article]] [[Category:Category]]
--Rainith 15:17, 10 April 2006 (CDT)
Whoops, I posted this on the wrong user's page anyways. My mistake. Meant to put it on Tetris L's page. Sorry! :) Now the big question, move this over there or just forward him a link to this heading? --Tinarto 15:22, 10 April 2006 (CDT)
Hehe, Rainith already answered the question, and I don't have much to add. :) --Tetris L TurningL sml.gif 13:44, 11 April 2006 (CDT)

Welcome back[edit source]

Been a while since I've seen your name pop up in the recent changes. How's your new life? — Stabber  06:49, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

I'm settled again, and everything's fine, but my new job doesn't allow me to spend much time browsing the internet during work (unless I want to get fired ;)), so for the time being I'll pop in only occasionally. --Tetris L TurningL sml.gif 06:53, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

Kinya Province[edit source]

Thanks for adding those quests, I'd have never gotten around to that. As soon as I get more time, I'll add in more monsters/bosses, and maybe a pic. -Auron of Neon 06:08, 2 May 2006 (CDT)

Never mind, no need to thank. :) That's the way it works on a wiki: One person starts with a draft, and everybody is aware that it is probably incomplete. Then the others fill in anything that's missing. You don't expect an article to be perfect at first issue. :) --Tetris L TurningL sml.gif 06:16, 2 May 2006 (CDT)

Out[edit source]

Actually, that quest is with a capital "O" for out. I haven't checked the others yet, but I know for a fact that that one was correct (which is why I moved it in the first place). --Rainith 13:58, 8 May 2006 (CDT)

I should at least let you know that I'm talking about Seek Out Headmaster Zhan I guess.  :P That's the problem when you're in a rush, I tend to leave things like that out.  :) --Rainith 14:17, 8 May 2006 (CDT)
Hehe, I got it. We should verify if:
  • all "Seek out ..." quest are spelled with capital O by ANet, i.e. we misspelled all of them (except the warrior quest) wrong on Guildwiki.
  • ANet's spelling is inconsistent, i.e. the Warrior quest is spelled with capital O while all others are with lowercase o.
Can anybody with a free slot please create a new Factions character and check?! --Tetris L TurningL sml.gif 14:26, 8 May 2006 (CDT)
That is my eventual plan, I'm slowly going thru Shing Jea right now with a primary Warrior, to pick up all the quests and flesh out/complete them. If I have time tonight, I'll make up a test character and check all the professions for that series of quests. (I don't know if I'll have time or not tho, so if anyone beats me to it, more power to them.) --Rainith 15:14, 8 May 2006 (CDT)
Ok, the people who created these quest pages on the wiki got the names wrong on all of them:

Out Kaa.jpg

Tetris rocks!!![edit source]

Indeed it does! I haven't played it in so long but I must buy Tetris DS --Jamie 08:36, 16 May 2006 (CDT)

Heh. The ironic thing is, despite my nickname I haven't played any Tetris in ages. Off course I've played it (who hasn't?), but I'm not a big fan. The story behind my nickname is a long one, but it has little to do with the game Tetris. It goes back to this. --Tetris L Tetris L block 09:00, 16 May 2006 (CDT)

Kappa moves[edit source]

Are you going to break up Kappa (level 6) into 3 different articles? I think it makes more sense to keep the articles by region and have the 3 levels of kappa share the same article, then splitting the kappas by level. Region conveys a more meaningful context. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 03:06, 19 May 2006 (CDT)

See Talk:Kappa (level 23)#We might need to reorganize --Tetris L Tetris L block 03:08, 19 May 2006 (CDT)

Do not split Blessings like that..[edit source]

Please stop. Do not split blessings like collector info. There is like 20 of them and they are displayed in like 7-10 articles, it's not worth it. Please keep things simple. --Karlos 04:05, 23 May 2006 (CDT)

Hehe, I put things on hold after the first blessing, because I guessed that you'd object. :)
As for "split blessings like collector info", do you mean the category or the article? --Tetris L Tetris L block 04:43, 23 May 2006 (CDT)
I thought we agreed to split them by Gods, as opposed to splitting into individual blessings. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 05:32, 23 May 2006 (CDT)
Well, I entend to do both, kinda, without causing redundancy. Let me explain how I intend to proceed:
There will be one "module" for each blessing (for example Dwayna/Blessings/Aura of Light). Each module will have a direct link for convenient editing. The code won't be too confusing for newbies. (Well, it's a table, and table code is always a bit confusing for newbies.)
These modules will be used in the following articles:
  • One article for each Blessing, for example Aura of Light
  • One summary module of all blessings for one god, for example Dwayna/Blessings.
These summary module will again be used in two places:
    • Each in the article about the respective god, for example Dwayna
    • All in the article about Blessing.
This means the info about Aura of Light will be accessible in 3 places (Aura of Light, Dwayna and Blessing), without actual redundancy. I think this is a good way to handle this. As for the work being "worth it", I'm willing to do it, so let that be my problem. --Tetris L Tetris L block 05:45, 23 May 2006 (CDT)
Remember a column for Campaign, assuming the new blessings aren't available in Prophecies. -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa.png) 05:55, 23 May 2006 (CDT)
That shouldn't be necessary, considering the "old" blessings aren't blessings per definition. So a general note that blessings are not available in the prophecies camapign should do.
In any case I'll give Karlos a chance to reply before I proceed. --Tetris L Tetris L block 06:37, 23 May 2006 (CDT)
Think for the future, what if chapter 3 has additional blessings Skuld Monk 07:25, 23 May 2006 (CDT)
I don't expect that C3 will have different blessings. I'd rather not make provisions for potential changes that we don't have any indication for yet. --Tetris L Tetris L block 07:43, 23 May 2006 (CDT)
As an alternative, I could do this slightly more simple: I could skip the module and reformat the blessing articles such that I can include them directly. --Tetris L Tetris L block 09:28, 23 May 2006 (CDT)
The design is fine EXCEPT for the modules. Do not use modules, it's unnecessary. The list of blessings will show up in 2 places. Not a big deal. Modularization IS a big deal. So:
  • Article for each blessing.
  • List them all under blessings.
  • List the specific ones of each god under the God's page.
Simple. --Karlos 21:26, 23 May 2006 (CDT)
Modules aren't a big deal to me, but that's a matter of a seperate discussion (which, unfortunatly, isn't concluded yet). I can avoid the use of modules and include each blessing article directly, with a bit of <noinclude> code. Shouldn't be too complicated. I'll start with Dwayna (only 4 blessings), and then put the thing on hold again for everybody to look at it and comment. --Tetris L 00:23, 24 May 2006 (CDT)

"Kuunavang is immune to interrupts"[edit source]

I don't think that's true. I have interrupted her before. — Stabber  02:11, 7 June 2006 (CDT)

What skill did you use? Several people have reported that her spells as well as her other skills cannot be interrupted by Mesmer or Ranger interrupts. Infact I can't confirm myself, but I assumed that she is immune to at least some interrupts, just like the Lich Lord. --Tetris L 02:17, 7 June 2006 (CDT)
Her Spores/Scales with a ranger. Don't remember which skill(s) exactly. It was on top of the Harvest Temple, so her interruptibility might be higher there. Or it might have been stealth changed because this was back on April 29 and I haven't taken any other interrupting classes that far into the game. — Stabber  02:25, 7 June 2006 (CDT)
Ranger pug party member of mine interrupted Corrupted Dragon Scales yesterday (w/ her in flight), although only once out of like, fifteen times. Either he blew hard or there's some super weirdness of death :P --Tinarto Tinarto-gold-Monk-icon-small.png 02:34, 7 June 2006 (CDT)
