Preliminary Dialogue "Did you feel the earth shake, [Name]? I was working my fields when the ground began to quake furiously, sort of like my wife does when I leave my dirty socks on the dining room table.... Suddenly, the dirt around me swelled up and collapsed, leaving a giant crevasse in its place. I thought I heard voices, so I looked inside for survivors. I couldn't make out any faces but swear I saw shapes moving in the dust-filled darknes. I ran as fast as I could. Please, you must go back and investigate this catastrophe!"

Accept: "I will investigate this crevasse, farmer."
Reject: "I could say something obnoxious here, but instead I'll just say no."

Walkthrough

This quest can be obtained from Len Caldoron in Lion's Arch. This quest is to enter the Eye of the North preview event (possibly Eye of the North, period). You need to walk north out of Lion's arch to a newly formed crevasse. When investigating you will be transported to the area: Beneath Lion's Arch.

There are minor enemies consisting of Lvl 16 Hellhounds, and a new enemy, Hellhound Keeper. Easily dispatched with Lvl 20 heroes. There are Lvl 12 ghoul popups, and two more Lvl 12-13 Skeleton Monks/Sorcerors after that.

You then come upon some dwarves working. Their leader is Ogden Stonehealer. A cut scene plays and you meet your first Asura.

Lvl 28 Destroyers appear and you now have 3 minutes to escape by running. (There are some small side areas that you bypass, not sure if they contain anything valuable.) You escape into a portal (the large glowing purple thing).

Another cutscene where you meet your first Norn.

You end up in the town of Boreal Station.

There is no necessary fighting in this quest, it is easier and quicker to just run through it.

Notes

  • Upon entering the area Beneath Lion's Arch for the first time, the game client will be required to download a 70.4MB update.

Trivia

  • What Lies Beneath is also a movie starring Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer (link to IMDB)
