In order for the GuildWiki to reach fansite status and then elite status it must meet the following requirements. This page aims to document our progress in meeting these requirements. Sub-points in the list are intended to be comments on the progress of this point.

Official Guild Wars Fansite

An Official Guild Wars Fansite agrees to:

  • Update frequently, at least once per week
    • We cover this easily, updates are currently in hundereds per day LordBiro/Talk
  • Host or link to a Guild Wars-related forum
    • Each article has its own topic-centric talk page to act as a discussion thread.
    • We also directly link to the GuildWarsGuru forums in the navigation panel.
  • Display Guild Wars material on a page separate from other non-ArenaNet materials
    • Since this entire site is Guild Wars - specific, we've got this covered.
  • Present a sufficient amount of original content, not merely a compilation (mirror) of ArenaNet-produced materials
    • Builds, guides, etc. Done
  • Present materials in an attractive and professional manner
    • Yes
  • Display an ArenaNet logo and link to ArenaNet's site on the page of Guild Wars materials
    • Done
  • Abide by The Expectations
    • Webmasters and all site staff members fullfill these unless all of the anonymous users are taken into account too.

An Official Guild Wars Fansite may receive the following:

  • A link on our Community Page and/or Fansite Roster
  • All ArenaNet press releases
  • Announcements from the Community Relations Manager, via e-mail or newsletter
  • Use of the Fansite Kit

Elite Guild Wars Fansite

An Elite Guild Wars Fansite agrees to:

  • Focus exclusively on Guild Wars and/or ArenaNet
    • Yes
  • Update when the official site is updated; carry Guild Wars news as it is posted or, when possible, as it takes place
    • Yes
  • Present a substantial amount of original content, not merely a compilation (mirror) of ArenaNet-produced materials
    • Maps, guides, etc. Done
  • Present materials in an attractive and professional manner
    • Yes
  • Post all ArenaNet press releases, or post a direct link to them on the ArenaNet or Guild Wars site(s)
    • Yes
  • Provide ArenaNet with statistics on fansite traffic on a monthly basis
    • Gravewit mentioned he provide visitor stats from time to time.
  • Host or link to a Guild Wars-related forum
    • Each article has its own topic-centric talk page to act as a discussion thread.
    • We also directly link to the GuildWarsGuru forums in the navigation panel.
  • Abide by The Expectations
    • Webmasters and all site staff members fullfill these unless all of the anonymous users are taken into account too.


An Elite Guild Wars Fansite may receive the following:

  • A link on our Community Page and/or Fansite Roster
  • All ArenaNet press releases
  • Announcements from the Community Relations Manager, via e-mail or newsletter
  • Use of the Fansite Kit
  • Unique, Fansite-only materials such as interviews, screenshots, and invitations to webmasters to participate in our Developer Chats, Contests and Drawings
  • Invitations to events available only to Elite Fansites
  • Occasional links from the news page of our Guild Wars website
  • Webmaster and/or site entry into exclusive contests
  • Possible support from ArenaNet in providing prizes for a modest on-site contest (Details to be customized for each Elite Fansite; prizes are subject to availability and ArenaNet budgetary guidelines.)
  • Regular personal contact with the ArenaNet Community Relations Manager

The Expectations

Members of the Guild Wars Community Fansite Program webmasters and all site staff members agree to the following:

  • To meet standards of quality for content and design
  • To abide by the legal requirements stated in the Terms of Use
  • To assure that site content reflects positively upon the company and the game
  • To disallow and remove links or promotion of adult (pornographic) sites, sites that provide or support software hacking or piracy, sites that support, advertise or offer in-game items for real currency, and sites that encourage game cheating
  • To abide by the game's Terms of Service
  • To display the appropriate copyright, logo, and legal information
