Does this really need to be separate from the quest article?[]

Does this really need to be separate from the quest article? It's not nearly as huge as the Magni or Doppelganger guides. —Dr Ishmael Diablo the chicken 13:33, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

First, I don't think any of these type of guides should be huge: the current length of the two mentioned above means we are unlikely to vet the details (esp. individual builds), we are unlikely to gauge the effectiveness of the guides (in terms of how much help they provide to players), and length defeats the purpose of the guides themselves (making the advice tractable to readers).
Second, as noted, "I was inspired by talking with several people in the last month ...[who] were unable to use [this] advice ...to succeed. I thought that was a shame, since the general guidelines and builds are solid and repeatable." It was easier to create a second article than to begin with figuring out how to get it to fit.
In the meantime, let's use this page to discuss the details of beating the Griffon and Talk:Cold as Ice to discuss whether they should be merged. I'll put a merge tag on this one.  —Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:01, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

Merge?[]

Please discuss merging with Cold as Ice at that quest's talk page. Please reserve this page to discuss the advice for defeating the GG. Thanks!  —Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:01, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

War build[]

Soldier's Stance just owns the Griffon. "To the Limit!" and/or "Fear Me!" as a maintainable shout, take Sever/Gash/Sun&Moon (alt Galrath) for damage, HealSig for healing. For those who are not opposed to PvE-only skills, Dwarven Stability. I don't think it gets much easier than that. Arguably uses fewer uncommon skills (lol block stances, RotN). Also works with Axe/Hammer, but those don't get easy maintainable degen without using PvE skills or secondaries, so will be less effective (6 damage per second adds up here).
Also, the Assassin build is rather outdated. Taking a heal is probably more beneficial than running constantly. --Vipermagi 19:28, September 24, 2010 (UTC)
