not sure if it's gonna do much good since it doesn't seem to be a bot tarting a fixed page, the kid will just move on to a diff page. I'd rather have him focused on one single page so it's easier to spot ^^" -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa) 00:08, 29 June 2006 (CDT)

He's pretty easy to spot with the summary he puts, plus that page was the one he hit the last, what, 3 times? Give it a chance, see how it plays out. --Rainith 00:12, 29 June 2006 (CDT)
you have a point there. ^^" -User:PanSola (talk to the Follower of Lyssa) 00:13, 29 June 2006 (CDT)

Test check[]

Did you receive my email? -Gares 15:07, 29 June 2006 (CDT)

Yup, and I responded. Didn't you get the message? If not check to see if your email filters out mail from gmail accounts (I thought I heard something about MSN and Hotmail doing that a while back). Back to work, ping me in game if you see me and we can chat more. --Rainith 15:11, 29 June 2006 (CDT)

G is for Gold..[]

Hey, I noticed that you removed the Gold and turned it back into Gold. I was just wondering why. I don't care if it's one or the other, but I thought we were transitioning into using that thing. I am oblivious as to where that discussion stood and what decisions if any were taken. So, I am trying to catch up here. Did we decide not to use the G and the P? --Karlos 12:51, 30 June 2006 (CDT)

There was a discussion about it, somewhere, within the last month or so. Damned if I know where, but it was decided that in tables and whatnot to use Gold, but in text descriptions to use Gold/gold. That is the only reason that I changed those, I'm more of a fan of using the Gold in the quest reward section, but hey, either way. --Rainith 14:22, 30 June 2006 (CDT)
Darn. My first time using that thing too. Oh well. :) --Karlos 08:31, 1 July 2006 (CDT)

Zchlemick[]

Exactly 10 minutes later his campaign is all cleaned up. Admin power! :p — Skuld Monk 16:37, 30 June 2006 (CDT)

Ha. I'm glad that you were on too, I was just getting ready to leave work when I checked and saw that. I wouldn't have had time to fix it all myself. --Rainith 18:33, 30 June 2006 (CDT)

deleting stuff[]

On GuildWiki:Criteria for deletion is say if an admin tags something (presumably something that isn't obvious vandalism etc.) for deletion, they shouldn't delete it themselves. Well PPBAoEEDDoT has got to go but as you've already added the del tag so I guess you can't delete it yourself. I don't know what the best way to get around this is if there's only one admin online, I could remove then readd the del tag but that seems a bit roundabout. Perhaps if a user (ie non admin like me) just added to the delete reason to indicate their agreement on the +del, would that be ok? Can you think of something better? --Xasxas256 19:05, 2 July 2006 (CDT)

As long as someone else agrees with the deletion, I have no problem wiping it out (people have complained before that I don't follow the rules for deletes, let them complain again). The only think that stopped me from deleting it in the first place was that I thought there was a small chance that it was an actual used term. I generally solo or go w/hench and don't PvP so I don't always keep up on the terms people use. --Rainith 19:15, 2 July 2006 (CDT)
So if say you add {{delete|article is no longer used}} then I went on and changed it to {{delete|article is no longer used. Agreed --~~~~}} and made the Summary:+del (I agree with Rainith). Would that be ok for you to delete it then? It just seemed dumb to me that if I'd seen it just a few seconds earlier, I would have added the +del and you would have deleted it but instead I saw it just after you add the +del so instead this pointless article sits around while we wait for another admin to come online. --Xasxas256 19:37, 2 July 2006 (CDT)
To me, your posting on the article's talk page an agreement with deletion would seem to satisfy the requirement. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:52, 2 July 2006 (CDT)
Problem with that is that you've added another article to delete! --Xasxas256 19:58, 2 July 2006 (CDT)

Jeez[]

Hey sorry, I was just kidding, but now I hate myself so im not ever going on my Guildwiki account ever again The preceding unsigned comment was added by Skinny Boy (talkcontribs) .

So be it. And apparently you don't read either (the note about keeping conversations together). --Rainith 23:55, 2 July 2006 (CDT)

Space[]

You mention on Xasxas's talk page that the thought of running out of space was disturbing. Gravewit said the problem was caused by 91 gigs of logs due to the files not rotating, so the issue was never how much space the wiki data was taking up. --68.142.14.34 23:52, 3 July 2006 (CDT)

Oh I forgot to mention that, yeah it's on the gamewikis blog, I think from memory he said one impressive 90GB file was created. --Xasxas256 23:54, 3 July 2006 (CDT)
Ah, I rarely check the blog as that's about how often it is updated. Rarely. (I know, I am too droll.) That is good to know. Upload away then. :P --Rainith 23:56, 3 July 2006 (CDT)
If only you could add it to your watchlist...well we have a page for game updates and for guildwars.com news, I wonder if my name space needs a section for Gamewiki blog updates? I guess it probably doesn't. --Xasxas256 23:59, 3 July 2006 (CDT)
Or maybe Gravewit could just use the wiki to post wiki news. --68.142.14.34 00:08, 4 July 2006 (CDT)
I think he generally posts things related to the GuildWiki on the GuildWiki and anything relating to the server/Gamewikis goes onto the Gamewiki blog, it works ok for me, although like Rainith I don't check the blog very often. --Xasxas256 00:43, 4 July 2006 (CDT)

People voting on old votes[]

You noticed the problem the same time I did, I started a discussion on the problem at GuildWiki talk:Old votes, what do you think the best solution is? --Xasxas256 21:54, 11 July 2006 (CDT)

After the votes ended, we originally were removing the votes from the article's talk pages where the votes took place, and inserting them into the GuildWiki:Old votes article. That prevented continuing votes within the original article's talk pages. I think that's still the best solution. If theis is related to the Talk:Girls on Top article, those votes were already archived to GuildWiki:Old_votes#Guild_pages_on_GuildWiki, so the votes could be removed from the talk page with a link to where it was moved. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 07:48, 12 July 2006 (CDT)

Jumped the gun?[]

You jumped the gun on the rank protection move, pardner. It was not that frequent. You oppressive admin, you. --Karlos 23:26, 11 July 2006 (CDT)

I count 9 reverts of anon edits in the last 50 edits. 18% seems rather frequent to me. --Rainith 23:29, 11 July 2006 (CDT)
Ok, I can't count it seems. Still it is at more than 10%. --Rainith 23:32, 11 July 2006 (CDT)
The last 50 edits span three months. I think frequent in this context should mean often enough that it's troublesome to manually revert. --68.142.14.78 23:39, 11 July 2006 (CDT)
You have a long memory and a black heart! :) I was thinking more the last couple of weeks... Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of vandalism going on, not like during the days when people were specualting about the Phoenix. --Karlos 05:51, 12 July 2006 (CDT)

Proof that henchmen are better than PUGs[]

Photoshoped! graphically manipulated!!! :O Foo 14:05, 15 July 2006 (CDT)

Heh, nope. I could have uploaded the full BMP image, but then I'd be going against the guidelines that I wrote down in the Image use policy so I didn't want to do that. ;) Next challenge is to try to beat Glint using hench. I know it can be done (in fact I think Karlos might have done it, not sure, I might be thinking of someone else) as I've seen shots of it. No joy for me the few times I've made what I thought would be a workable build for it and tried it tho. --Rainith 14:17, 15 July 2006 (CDT)
Just joking - good job. and about glint, after this, there is no doubt it can be henched :] Foo 14:40, 15 July 2006 (CDT)
Yeah, I saw that too, I might need to change my secondary to Necro and give it a try. I've seen pics of a Ranger with an all hench party standing over Glint's corpse as well as an Ele with the same. In either case, I think it is just a matter of finding the correct build and using it right. --Rainith 19:34, 15 July 2006 (CDT)

Enjoy your Vacation[]

Just wanted to say have a great time.--— xis10al Xis10al sig icon 14:32, 15 July 2006 (CDT)

Thanks. =) I'll probably have more than enough time to spend on the wiki and in game during my vacation, but if not I think it is polite to let people know that you'll be gone and that you haven't just dropped off the face of the Earth. --Rainith 19:34, 15 July 2006 (CDT)
All I want to know is...when do I pack my bags? Have fun and stay out of trouble.
P.S. Never try and look at a vandal's history and place ban templates while playing in an Alliance Battle. :P -Gares 21:45, 15 July 2006 (CDT)

*Grumble* The first time I go on vacation this summer this thread gets started on the GuildWiki forums at GWG. The second time I go on vacation they drop the news aboug GW Nightfall. Good thing I'm not planning on going on vacation again any time soon, I'd hate to miss something else.  :) --Rainith 12:30, 19 July 2006 (CDT)

Rank Spoofing[]

Where is this long conversation you guys had? I found nothing in the Rank discussion forum and I don't remember discussing this with you. - Stexe

Not a clue, I just remember that there was a discussion about it some months back. If you want to bring it up again, do so in the talk page for Rank. --Rainith 11:13, 17 July 2006 (CDT)
Also just a note, since I don't think you were around when it originally came up. Rank Spoofing started out as its own article (under a different name than that tho IIRC) and it was decided, after much discussion to roll it into the Rank article. --Rainith 12:44, 17 July 2006 (CDT)

Spammer![]

Screen-40

i'm not that bad :p — Skuld Monk 12:41, 19 July 2006 (CDT)

Ha! That's what you think. :P I'm curious tho, were you logged in at the time? If so then that is just weird and scary that it can happen to logged in users too. Anyway just look at the top of my user page, right underneath my vacation notice, and "Have a nice day."  ;) --Rainith 12:43, 19 July 2006 (CDT)
I know about the spam-filter, just thought it was funny ^^ I click a link on guru pointing at the sever IP address and wasn't logged in there — Skuld Monk 12:49, 19 July 2006 (CDT)

Need some lil help :)[]

Hi mister mighty admin. I accidently uploaded wrong version of a pic (first time uploading a file). I immidiately uploaded newer correct version but cant seem to delete the old one. So can you please help me? thanks a bunch! : Robin of Glory Energy Surge 07:32, 29 July 2006 (CDT)

I deleted two older versions of Image:GoD128.jpg. After reviewing, I could see why you wanted the oldest one removed - don't want those passwords published! ;-P --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 09:48, 29 July 2006 (CDT)

Elf's Picture[]

would it help if i uploaded another image over it? my company doesn't have a content filter. --Honorable Sarah Honorable Icon 11:23, 31 July 2006 (CDT)

That would work for me. Mine has no filter like that, it is more of an issue of someone walking by and looking over my shoulder. --Rainith 11:54, 31 July 2006 (CDT)
Nevermind. Fyren got to it. Thanks for the offer tho.  :) --Rainith 11:57, 31 July 2006 (CDT)

Thanks[]

Thanks for that, sorry to give you so much work but I was getting of people moving misspelled builds and not removing the redirect so I thought I'd do something about it. Unfortunately I haven't gone through them all but I'm knocking off work now, you might be lucky, next time a different admin will be on when I get back into it ;) It's just a shame that my +dels don't show up in my contributions so I can see which I've done, but never mind, again many thanks. --Xasxas256 23:30, 4 August 2006 (CDT)

A/N Death's Empty Palm[]

could you delete [Build:A/N Death's Empty Palm] (it's a duplicate) so i can move the updated [Build:A/N Death's Promise] to that name? thanks ;) --Honorable Sarah Honorable Icon 16:12, 11 August 2006 (CDT)

Done.  :) --Rainith 16:17, 11 August 2006 (CDT)
thank you very much, good sir. --Honorable Sarah Honorable Icon 16:22, 11 August 2006 (CDT)

An apology[]

You're absolutely right. I painted the current adminship with too broad a brush in my bull-headed fashion. For that I apologize, to you, and to anyone else who felt my comments on the old boy's club was targetting them unfairly. I'm not going to comment further on Gravewits talk page, partly because I said I wouldn't and partly because I don't have time anyway (see my talk page for more on that). :) -- Bishop icon2 Bishop [rap|con] 02:13, 12 August 2006 (CDT)

No problem.  :) I just wanted to make sure you knew that it wasn't such an old boys club, that there were members of the club who were arguing that we should have some more members. Now, get back to that new job and get to work. :P --Rainith 02:19, 12 August 2006 (CDT)
Edit - Also, 'cause I forgot to mention it 'cause I'm really tired and need to go to bed, no apology was necessary. I didn't think that any offense was meant, so I didn't take any. But I do thank you for it.  :) --Rainith 02:21, 12 August 2006 (CDT)

Style and formatting - image type question[]

Can you take a look at User_talk:Smurf#Images? I know that you were involved with some of the style guides, so I'm hoping you'll have some input on this. Or, maybe we should just ask Smurf to finish uploading the images, and deal with format after the fact. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 10:39, 12 August 2006 (CDT)

Delete images, list number five[]

I made a new list of images which should be deleted. Could you do it for me mister admin? ;) --Gem-icon-sm (talk) 18:02, 15 August 2006 (CDT)

Sure, leaving work in a few minutes so it might not all happen at once, but I'll at least start on it. --Rainith 18:06, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
Thanks! --Gem-icon-sm (talk) 18:09, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
Thanks again, although Gares was faster and did most of it. --Gem-icon-sm (talk) 18:33, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
Sorry Rainith, I popped on and happened to notice Gem needed help. And I wasn't that fast, sometimes it took a couple of seconds for pages to load. :P -Gares 18:38, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
A couple of seconds indeed. I'm sitting on a cable connection and you had deleted a few images each time while I was waiting for the recent changes to refresh. Where is my problem? Is it the wiki or something else? Sometimes a page load might even take almost half a minute. --Gem-icon-sm (talk) 18:43, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
I never know, it always seems slower at work (ie now) but then again it could be the timezone, I guess we could ask Gravewit to dig up some stats. --Xasxas256 19:08, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
I use cable connection too. The GuildWiki does lag at times when there are a lot of users surfing it. That's why I had to wait at times. Regarding the speed of your internet connection, check out this service tools testing site. You can test your connection speed, see what, if needed, you can do to improve your speed, etc. -Gares 19:21, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
Thanks Gares. Gem, next time see if you could make a page (use User:Rainith/Delete if you want) and make the list like this:
...
[http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki?title=Image:Urgozs_Longbow_Look big.jpg&action=delete]
...
Essentially, just add [http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki?title= infront of the image info and &action=delete] at the end of it. That way we just need to click on each one. Also don't forget the _underscores_ in place of spaces (otherwise it don't work (as is seen in User:Rainith/Test where I did a quick copy/paste job with your original list).  :) --Rainith 21:43, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
I took a slighty different approach to it. I opened his list in one browser, opened one for GuildWiki, and CP'd the image titles into the search field. While a page was loading, I'd go back and add another image into my copy cache to place in the search field. That might be why I was going so fast. -Gares 21:49, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
Adding the text around the image name will be easy for me to do for future delete lists. Then I'll just throw the list at some admin. :P --Gem-icon-sm (talk) 04:37, 16 August 2006 (CDT)

Catacombs map[]

Why should we use the old and ugly minimap compilation and not the new in game map? --Gem-icon-sm (talk) 11:16, 16 August 2006 (CDT)

If you look at the talk page (for the image) the concencus there is that the old one is better. The radar is at a higher resolution than the minimap therefore it is much clearer than the fuzzy one that you uploaded. --Rainith 12:10, 16 August 2006 (CDT)

Main Page/editcopy[]

Would you like to update the main page accordingly? The note of the latest game update might be good to have on the main page pretty soon, in a similiar way as we had the notice of th new greens a while a go. --Gem-icon-sm (talk) 11:22, 18 August 2006 (CDT)

Done. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 11:35, 18 August 2006 (CDT)
Thanks. --Gem-icon-sm (talk) 12:11, 18 August 2006 (CDT)

For your consideration[]

If you would be so kind sir to take a look-see at GuildWiki talk:Don't immediately delete. Thanks.

On a different note, been having net problems lately. If you still want to do the RoF backdoor, I'm still willing. I also have some other projects that you may find interesting. ;) -Gares 12:18, 21 August 2006 (CDT)

I've been following it a bit, just haven't posted my thoughts on it. I'll try to do that today when I get the chance.
As for the RoF and any other projects, I'm game. I don't know that I'll be on tonight, but if you see me on at anypoint (today, tomorrow, etc...) give me a shout. --Rainith 13:58, 21 August 2006 (CDT)

Frost Gate[]

Thanks for editing and reverting the artical on the frost gate, i knew somethign wasn't right with it, but wasn't sure where it would stand. The fact that searching for "the frost gate" would give you that page, but didn't really explain about the mission or location made me think it needed 'some' work but i wasn't sure what exactly do to. I guess this time i made the wrong discission :-s. Cheers again :] --Woonack Warrior-icon-small 12:10, 22 August 2006 (CDT)

No problem. That article is about the actual gate itself, the mission is under The Frost Gate and the location is The Frost Gate (outpost).  :) --Rainith 12:29, 22 August 2006 (CDT)

Discussion re: builds and site policies[]

You may already be aware of it, but if not can you take a look at the (long) discussion at GuildWiki_talk:Style_and_formatting/Builds#theoretical_builds and voice your opinion? I'm asking several of the currently active admins to take a look. The issue, to me, is one of interpretation of site policies and practices. I was involved in the discussions earlier, so I cannot consider myself totally unbiased in any attempt to resolve it myself. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 20:46, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
